Jay Cutler, who built a reputation playing for teams such as the Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, and Denver Broncos, was taken into custody after officers noted that he had "bloodshot eyes" and a strong smell of alcohol.

"Mr Cutler offered $2,000 to the other driver if he didn't call the police," the affidavit states. However, the other driver rejected the offer, resulting in the police being summoned to the scene.
Officers arriving at the crash scene noted Cutler exhibited signs of intoxication.
The arresting officer wrote in an affidavit, "I noticed Mr Cutler staggering, swaying, and heavy-footed while walking at the scene of the crash."
Additionally, Cutler was described as slurring his words, speaking with a "thick tongue," and having bloodshot, watery eyes.
Despite his initial denial of drinking, Cutler eventually admitted to consuming "a little bit" of alcohol.

Despite clear signs of intoxication, Cutler refused a field sobriety test, leading officers to arrest him.
A blood search warrant was obtained, and his blood was drawn at Williamson Medical Center to determine his blood alcohol level.
Notably, Cutler denied being involved in the crash, even though there was visible damage to the rear of the other vehicle.
However, Cutler's truck, which had a winch at the front, showed no damage.
Jay Cutler ordered to install ignition interlock device
In the wake of these legal troubles, Jay Cutler faces restrictions on his driving privileges.
TMZ reports that he must install an ignition interlock device—a Breathalyzer that prevents a vehicle from starting if the driver’s breath alcohol level is too high—as a condition of his bond.
This device is often mandated for individuals facing DUI charges to ensure sober driving. Cutler’s representatives have not yet commented publicly on the incident.
Adding to the complexity of Cutler's legal situation is the charge of illegal firearm possession while under the influence.
Tennessee law prohibits individuals who are intoxicated from possessing a firearm, an additional serious charge alongside his DUI offense.
Jay Cutler's DUI Arrest follows divorce from Kristin Cavallari
This arrest is yet another challenge in Cutler's life, particularly following his publicized personal struggles.
In 2020, Cutler and reality TV star Kristin Cavallari filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences" and "inappropriate marital conduct."
The former couple, who married in 2013, has three children together—Camden, 11, Jaxon, 9, and Saylor, 8—and were the stars of the E! reality show 'Very Cavallari' from 2018 to 2020.
For a player who amassed 35,133 passing yards and 227 touchdowns during his 12-season NFL career, this arrest marks a significant fall from grace.
Once a Pro Bowler celebrated for his achievements on the field, Cutler’s post-NFL life has been increasingly plagued by personal and legal difficulties.
The public attention surrounding this case is amplified by Cutler’s status as both a former NFL player and a reality TV figure.
His controversial behavior, both during and after his professional career, has kept him in the spotlight, and this latest incident will likely have long-lasting repercussions for the public.
