NEW KENSINGTON, PENNSYLVANIA: JD Vance has made an unusual comparison between the US's immigration challenges and the southern border to attempting to eat "a really big sandwich" that is too large for one's mouth.

Addressing a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Pennsylvania on Thursday, August 15, the Republican vice-presidential candidate, labeled "weird" by Democratic opponent Tim Walz, was asked if Trump's "largest deportation operation in American history" would necessitate deploying the National Guard to detain millions.

JD Vance likens tackling illegal immigration to eating giant sandwich

While JD Vance admitted that he did not know, he didn't dismiss the possibility. Subsequently, the senator from Ohio proposed an intriguing analogy to explain how the situation might be managed., Independent reported.

Vance explained to reporters, “The first thing you have to do is stop the bleeding.”

He added, “The second thing is, okay, well, now that we’ve gotten illegal immigration as close to zero as physically possible, what are you and President Trump going to do about the 20 million illegal aliens who are here?"

“Well, that’s a really big sandwich. It’s 10 times the size of your mouth. How are you possibly going to eat the whole thing?”

Vance continued to outline the Trump-Vance administration's strategy to address the issue of undocumented migrants by implementing deportations in phases, described metaphorically as "eating" the problem "bite" by "bite."

“Well, you take the first bite, and then you take the second bite, and then you take the third bite,” he said. “And that’s how you approach the 20 million illegal aliens who are here.”

JD Vance claims Kamala Harris oversaw 25-30 million undocumented immigrants

In his speech, JD Vance reiterated the prominent Republican assertion that Vice President Kamala Harris served as President Joe Biden's "Border Czar," responsible for addressing the crossings at the US-Mexico border.

During his address, Vance also wavered on the figures regarding the number of undocumented immigrants he alleged to have entered the US since Harris assumed the vice presidency in 2020.

“It’s probably more like 25 or 30 million,” he later added 10 million to his initial estimate. The source of Vance's figures is not evident.

The Center for Immigration Studies estimated that as of January 2022, the number of unauthorized immigrants in the US was 11.35 million, a figure comparable to its estimate during the Trump administration in January 2019.

During the Biden administration, Democrats advocated for a bipartisan border funding bill in May, which aimed to tighten the criteria for migrants seeking asylum at the US-Mexico border.

However, Republicans, prompted by Trump, ultimately rejected that bill. Immigration remains a critical policy issue as the election approaches, with Trump now trailing Harris by approximately 2.7 points in national polls.

One commented, "Such a weird analogy"

"He is really bad at politics," one said.

A person claimed, "Vance is really bad at this. You know, in terms of badness."

Another chimed in mocking Vance, "He’s a comedian too? This guy is unstoppable haha "
