MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: On Thursday night, Fox News anchor Jesse Watters took center stage with a dramatic commentary on former President Donald Trump’s appearance at the Republican National Convention (RNC).

According to Raw Story, Watters’ coverage not only spotlighted the intensity of the event but also wove in broader themes of political revival and American resilience. In the surrounding context of the RNC, Watters framed Trump’s return as a symbol of a grand American comeback.

During his live broadcast of the RNC, Jesse Watters delved into controversial conspiracy theories, suggesting that law enforcement might have been complicit in the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

While summarizing the dramatic moments of the day, Watters highlighted how GOP Senators had aggressively pursued Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle down a hallway. He pointed out the conspicuous absence of on-camera interviews from the FBI as a possible sign of deeper issues.

“Running away from Republicans demanding answers about an assassination attempt that your inactions made possible makes Americans not trust you,” Watters said. “Smells like a cover up.”

Far-right lawmakers quickly latched onto these conspiracy theories, asserting that the FBI either orchestrated or allowed the assassination attempt against Trump. Colorado Representative Scott Bottoms was among those pushing these claims.

In a notable incident, Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn posted a video on X capturing Wyoming Senator John Barrasso’s confrontation with Cheatle at the convention.

In the video, Blackburn demands, “You cannot hide from us. You owe answers,” as Barrasso insisted on a “resignation or full explanation to us right now” regarding the attack. Cheatle, facing mounting pressure, eventually retreated behind a closed door.

Jesse Watters’ vision of Trump’s political revival

On his show 'Jesse Watters Primetime,' Watters framed Trump’s RNC appearance as more than just a political event. He described Trump’s renewed vigor following the assassination attempt as emblematic of a broader resurgence in American politics. Watters stated, “Trump is a grandfather, but this isn't your grandfather's Republican Party. It's a populist movement that cuts across class and racial lines, speeding like a comet straight at the ruling class.”

Watters also offered his perspective on Trump’s strategic choices, explaining, “It’s now clear why Trump tapped JD Vance as VP. He’s a storyteller, and his story is the American dream from where he came from to where he is today would not have been possible if he didn't have people fighting for him and protecting him.”

The symbolism of Trump’s RNC appearance

Watters emphasized the symbolic significance of Trump’s RNC appearance. He remarked, “After dodging a bullet, Trump ripped up his speech and rewrote it and we're hearing tonight Joe Biden will not be mentioned by name. This could be because the former president wants to tone down the rhetoric, or because Trump doesn't even know if Biden will be his opponent, to lay out his agenda and make an appeal for American unity in the face of hatred.”

According to Watters, Trump’s RNC appearance was a powerful symbol of a “great American comeback.”

He continued, “His appearance tonight will likely symbolize the great American comeback, a comeback from when this country was great, a political comeback after the 2020 election, and a personal comeback from Saturday's assassination attempt. From hoaxes to impeachments, from indictments to bullets, Trump is back in the arena in the most politically secure position he's ever been, the wind at his back and an angel on his shoulder.”
