LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Over the weekend, a video surfaced in which President Joe Biden momentarily appeared to freeze on stage at a recent Los Angeles fundraiser, leading former President Barack Obama to step in and guide him offstage.

The video was circulated among several right-wing groups as proof of the incumbent's declining mental acuity. The White House claimed that such videos were deceptively edited, dubbing them "cheap fakes."

Jimmy Kimmel, who moderated a talk between Obama and Biden at the fundraiser, debunked the claim that the president froze on stage as he took several jabs at Donald Trump on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'.

Associated Press fact-checked the video and noted that Biden "paused amid cheers and applause" as opposed to the claim that he froze on stage after the Kimmel-moderated session.

During his monologue, Kimmel said, "You know there’s a clip of Joe Biden going around today. They say he froze and had to be escorted off stage on Saturday night."

"I was standing right next to him when it happened. He didn’t freeze, he was listening to the people calling him in the front row," stressed the late-night host.

"But the right-wing media, while working very hard to claim Biden’s out of it, somehow seems to completely miss moments like this," pointed out Kimmel before playing a clip of Trump mixing up the name of his former White House doctor, Ronny Jackson, who is now a congressman from Texas.

Trump was boasting about his performance on a cognitive test at the Turning Point USA's People’s Convention in Detroit when he confused the name of his former White House physician.

"Yeah, his name’s Ronny Jackson, it’s not Ronny Johnson. It’s Jackson," quipped Kimmel, adding, "If that was another cognitive test — you failed it. OK?"

He then proceeded to show a clip of Trump rambling about water usage in dishwashers and water pressure.

The late-night host joked, "Not only is this nonsense, when do you think was the last time Trump loaded a dishwasher? Maybe... never?"

"I hope he has good water pressure in the showers at Rikers Island because he is not going to like that! It’s, I mean it is an island! They’re surrounded by water," sarcastically added Kimmel, hinting at Trump's upcoming sentencing in the hush money conviction.

Netizens weren't keen on Kimmel's explanation of the situation, with one writing, "Jimmy if you are trying to be funny, you failed miserably. Your thoughts and opinions mean nothing to me. You are well known for bending the truth in order to get a laugh. I suggest you stop being a comedian and start cleaning horse stalls because that is the stuff you shovel."

Another shared, "Well heck, you can take Kimmel's word right to the bank. Explain one thing Kimmel, why did Obama have to grab Biden and forcefully direct him offstage if it didn't happen? Biden had no clue where he was, which is par for the course when in public. They aren't 'right wing' videos showing Biden repeat..."

"Jimmy, you’re a shill for the DNC, your word means nothing," remarked a person, and someone else added, "One dumb person."

"Jimmy Kimmel can't handle the truth," said an individual. One more wrote, "When the country sees it live on video, you can’t make up a story to protect him. If it happened only once, that is alright, all of us do these things, but when you see it day after day, it becomes very evident that this man has serious problems, and should not be the leader of the free world."

Another person claimed, "He was frozen like a computer glitch. He wasn’t listening to anyone. Not to mention it was the second time in a week as he froze at the Juneteenth event earlier in the week. Just accept it. "

"We all make excuses for folks we don’t want to see go through this when it happens. It’s sad really, denial is understandable as is making excuses, the neither are helpful to the person suffering," noted another naysayer.
