John Amos' daughter Shannon accuses brother of manipulating father's will before his death

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: John Amos' family is embroiled in a troubling controversy following the actor's death, with his daughter Shannon Amos accusing her brother Kelly Christopher Amos aka KC, of colluding with two others to manipulate their father's affairs.  

John Amos, who died at the age of 84, became a hot topic online on October 1, shortly after the news broke that he had died on August 21 in California. While his death was attributed to congestive heart failure, the circumstances surrounding it have sparked ongoing headlines, with Shannon questioning KC's actions in the days leading up to their father's demise.

During an appearance on 'TMZ Live' Thursday, she was joined by John’s former business manager, Paul Baldassarre, her daughter Quiera Colston, and John’s goddaughter, Amy Goudy, to raise concerns about the troubling circumstances surrounding the 'Good Times' star's death. 

Shannon revealed that John was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia in 2016, leading KC to move in with him. She alleges that KC isolated their father from other loved ones and even monitored his phone calls.

Shannon claims KC’s alleged drug addiction and mental health issues strained family relationships and that he withheld medical treatment from their father. Baldassarre, who previously managed John's business affairs, stated that he and two others held power of attorney for the actor until KC allegedly took over without any discussion. 

Shannon explained, "My uncle was actually the head of his estate and he had to do 5 wills because my brother would come in and would get him to sign paperwork. He would undo everything."

Shannon Amos questions why it took 45 days to announce John Amos' death

As reported by TMZ, Shannon Amos expressed her shock at learning about her father's death "through the media" and questioned why it took 45 days for the announcement. Additionally, she stated that KC had John's body cremated just nine days after his death, without a funeral or notifying the family. 

She suggested, "I think that my brother had him cremated quickly so that law enforcement couldn't do, and the family couldn't ask for, an autopsy. We knew that my father had congestive heart failure, we know he wasn't in any kind of hospice."

Shannon previously accused KC of elder abuse, a claim both her brother and father denied. In July 2023, KC was arrested for making threats against Shannon, leaving her fearing for her safety. The family has made it clear that this dispute is not about money. They are planning a memorial for John Amos on November 23 in New Jersey, with details to be announced soon.
