John Amos' cause of death revealed as 'Good Times' star's daughter hints at foul play
INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA: John Amos, 'Good Times' and 'Roots' star whose death was announced on Tuesday, October 1 at age 84 died on August 21 in California.
The 'Coming to America' star died of congestive heart failure as per TMZ, and no other significant medical conditions have been listed.
John Amos was cremated 9 days after death
John Amos' publicist, Belinda Foster, confirmed to the New York Times that he had died in August. However, she did not specify why the announcement of his death was delayed.
John was cremated on August 30, nine days after his death on August 21 at 5.18 pm at an Inglewood hospital, per TMZ.
The death certificate reveals that no autopsy was performed. His certificate also lists John's son, Kelly Christopher Amos, also known as KC, as the "informant," which means he's the one who informed the county of his dad's death.
The report says KC still possesses John's ashes as a "Type of Disposition" in KC's house.
Kelly Christopher Amos says John Amos had a 'heart of gold' but daughter Shannon was unaware
Speculation suggests tension between Kelly Christopher Amos and Shannon Amos, daughter of John Amos, as she reported learning of her father's death through the media, while KC announced their dad's death on Tuesday.
"It is with heartfelt sadness that I share with you that my father has transitioned," KC said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

"He was a man with the kindest heart and a heart of gold… and he was loved the world over. Many fans consider him their TV father. He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor," KC said of his late father.
John Amos' daughter Shannon Amos is left with 'many questions'
John Amos’ daughter, Shannon Amos, said she found out about her father’s death “through the media” like the rest of the world.
“I am without words…Our family has received the heartbreaking news that my Dad, John Allen Amos, Jr, transitioned on August 21st,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a touching video of her dancing with the 'Good Times' actor.

“We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, learning about it through the media like so many of you,” she added.
"Still, there is some semblance of peace in knowing my father is finally free," she wrote further.
'Good Times' garnered high ratings and was praised for its historical significance in television. It was among the first sitcoms to feature an all-Black cast, preceding Norman Lear's 'The Jeffersons' (1975-85).
John Amos' daughter casts doubt on father's death
Shannon Amos has further cast doubt on the events surrounding her father John Amos' death.
In an Instagram Story, Shannon posted a screenshot of a woman claiming John's daughter was in the emergency room the night the actor died.
"We believe it was Belinda Foster" a woman posing as John's publicist, Shannon said, adding, that her father died "alone without family".
Shannon asked for anyone with information to reach out before adding, "Something is very wrong with this..." adding in another story post, "Heart broken."
