Josh Brolin recalls 'weirdest f**king moment' with Donald Trump that gives him the creeps to this day
AUSTIN, TEXAS: When you hear a story involving Josh Brolin, Shia LaBeouf, Oliver Stone, Donald Trump, and Melania Trump, you just know it will be bizarre. Regardless, the tale Brolin shared on a recent episode of 'In Depth with Graham Bensinger' still takes the cake.
Back in 2010, Brolin found himself at a New York City dinner at the iconic 21 Club with the Trumps, Stone, and LaBeouf. While the dinner sparked a short-lived friendship between Brolin and Trump, it’s safe to say that friendship didn't last long. Yet, the evening left Brolin with one unforgettable—and totally weird—memory.
The $20 and Donald Trump’s apartment tour
To set the stage, Josh Brolin confirmed that Trump once lent him $20, which Bensinger pointed out during their conversation. But then Brolin dove into a story about visiting Trump’s apartment that still gives him the creeps to this day.
"You know, there's a weird f**king thing that happened, man," Brolin said, recalling the night. "So we're in his apartment, and he's telling us where he was standing when he watched the [Twin] Towers go down. And it was…very emotional, and he was emotional about it."
At some point, Trump began showing his guests around the apartment. Brolin, being a fan of architecture, wanted to see more so naturally he asked Trump what was upstairs, Entertainment Weekly reported.
"And I said, 'Can I see upstairs?' I said, 'What's upstairs?' He said, 'Our bedroom.' And I said, 'Can I see upstairs?' He said, 'Yeah.' And then nobody moved," Brolin recalled. "And I said, 'Cool. So should we go up?' And he said, 'Yeah.' And then he still didn't move. And I'm thinking, 'What the f**k is happening?'"
The silence in the room was deafening, with no one — including Trump — making a move. Brolin exchanged confused glances with Oliver Stone and Shia LaBeouf, both equally baffled.
Brolin tried one more time, "'So should we go up?' I said it a third time, 'So, should we go upstairs?' He goes, 'Sure.' And he didn’t move. And then there was silence."
Finally realizing this wasn’t going anywhere, Brolin wrapped it up, "I said, 'Well, thanks for having us here. I really appreciate it.' He goes, 'Yeah, no problem.' And we shook his hand and all that. It was the weirdest f**king moment. I still get wigged out by it. I don’t know what was happening—I still don’t to this day. It’s like, he couldn’t not say no, but he wasn’t gonna get out of the way of the thing. It meant no, but he said yes."
Bell’s Palsy and the COVID-19 vaccine
Josh Brolin, 56, recently opened up about another unusual chapter in his life during an episode of 'The Joe Rogan Experience'. The 'No Country for Old Men' star revealed he was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy, a condition causing temporary facial paralysis.
"I contracted a mild case of Bell's palsy," Brolin shared. "So literally, [I] was stressing out... I’m washing my face, and I’m doing this, and [my face] just started going [sagging]."
Joe Rogan, who has previously raised questions about COVID-19 vaccines, suggested a potential link between the vaccine and Brolin’s condition. While Brolin agreed with Rogan’s claim, it’s worth noting that the National Institute of Health does list Bell’s palsy as a potential side effect of Pfizer and Moderna’s mRNA vaccines.
That said, Facial Palsy UK declared last year that "there is no strong evidence that the numbers of reported cases of Bell's palsy are higher [during the time the COVID-19 vaccines came out] than would be expected in the general population."
"That's one of the side effects of COVID-19 vaccines… That vaccine, in particular. That one. The mRNA one," Rogan claimed. "Yeah, I know quite a few people that develop Bell's palsy from that, whatever you want to call it... Facial paralysis."
Brolin admitted that it was unnerving. "It's a scary prospect, man," he said.
Rogan, however, reassured him that his friends’ facial paralysis eventually went away.
