PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former President Donald Trump put forward a bizarre theory, suggesting the Covid-19 virus entered the US due to "dust flying in from China."

In an interview with journalist Sharyl Attkisson, funded by the Heritage Foundation, which aired on Sunday, September 22, the GOP presidential nominee proudly discussed his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic during his final year in the White House.

"In terms of overall, I think I did an amazing job with Covid," Trump claimed, as per Raw Story. "I never got the credit for it. Remember that more people died under Biden-Harris than died under Trump."

Covid-19 originated in Wuhan, China, and was first reported in the United States in January 2020.

The crippling effects of the pandemic's first wave struck the nation during Trump's presidency, which he claims was handled effectively.

"I never got great credit on the fighting of the China virus, which is Covid, but we call it the China virus because we like to be accurate," the real estate mogul said.

"But if you think of what I've done, I took a disaster that came into our shores, that dust flew in from China, and we started making things like the ventilators."

Trump predicted he would not be given credit for the "fantastic job" he believes he accomplished.

"Nobody knew what it was," the MAGA leader asserted. "Nobody knew where it came from."

However, a study by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) contradicts Trump's claims.

The study claims the Trump administration downplayed the warnings after China reported the outbreak on December 31, 2019. The US failed to slow the virus from rapidly spreading by testing, contact tracing, and isolating affected individuals because the administration only acted with partial measures and incorrect public statements.

At the time Trump left office in January 2021, the Covid-19 death toll in the US reached 400K, as per USA Today.
