NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: MSNBC host Joy Reid suggested that former president Donald Trump does not seem to have a close or particularly loving relationship with his family in a discussion about Presidents Joe Biden and the former president's personal lives.

"Donald Trump has grandkids too, but the physical interactions that they had at the convention felt so cold and sort of clinical," Reid said on Wednesday, July 24. "It didn't feel real. You really don't see Melania," she added.

Joy Reid highlights the contrast between Donald Trump and Joe Biden's families

Joy Reid compared the dynamics between Joe Biden and his spouse Jill Biden as well as the rest of his family to that of Donald Trump's family. "This had to be a commitment for life, or I wasn't going to do it,'" Reid said, recounting Jill's description of her thoughts before she started a relationship with Joe.

"That is the kind of couple they are," Reid said, according to Fox News. "Even just reading the pool note and the closeness of this family, it is another contrast with the other family that's on the table. It's just a difference," she said, adding that "all families are different."

Joe Biden's family has played a key role in his political career

Joe Biden's family has been instrumental in his political career before he withdrew from the race. Jill Biden spoke at numerous rallies across the nation in favor of her husband. Hunter, Biden's son, has drawn national attention and was found guilty in June of three felonies pertaining to the purchase of a handgun in 2018.

Hunter Biden reportedly began attending meetings at the White House a week after the presidential debate before Joe Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the race. At the time, a White House source told NBC that the sudden appearance of Hunter caused confusion and many people asked, "What the hell is happening?"

Internet lambasts Joy Reid for speaking ill of Donald Trump and his family members

Joy Reid received backlash from online users when she implied that Trump's grandchildren don't genuinely love him. Given that the attacks on Trump have even touched his personal life, it would seem that the Democrats' and their supporters' hatred of him has reached entirely new heights.

One X user wrote, "She needs to be fired! This is definitely the furthest thing from journalism. Just think if someone said that about the other side, just think about the outrage but it’s OK for them to speak it. Wow, she needs to be fired." Another tweeted, "Well, when it comes to not being loved, Joy should know what she's talking about."

"Poor Joy Reid had all her Grandkids aborted just to prove a point," mocked one more user while someone else remarked, "She's just jealous of the Trump family. Loser she is." "Wow the stink of desperation reeks off of joy," commented one.
