WASHINGTON, DC: The judge presiding over Donald Trump's election meddling trial in New York City, Justice Juan Merchan, has turned down Trump's request to subpoena Stormy Daniels to get documents for her independent documentary, according to Meidas Touch.

Notably, before his criminal trial began in March, Trump served Stormy Daniels a subpoena demanding that she turn over any documents on her documentary and communication with Michael Cohen and other individuals.

Judge denies Trump's motion to subpoena Stormy Daniels

According to Justice Merchan's letter, Trump's requests were inappropriate and vastly overbroad by New York law. Despite their best efforts, Trump's legal team was unable to prove that the demands for papers were sufficiently confined to be relevant to the criminal case.

He wrote, "The Court of Appeals has held that a subpoena is properly quashed when the party issuing the subpoena fails 'to demonstrate any theory of relevancy or materiality, but instead, merely desire(s) the opportunity for an unrestrained foray into confidential records in the hope that the unearthing of some unspecified information (will) enable them to impeach witness(es)."

He added, "A subpoena not generally be used for the purpose of discovery or to ascertain the existence of evidence. Conversely, courts have denied a motion to quash where the subpoena demands production of specific documents which are relevant and material to the proceedings."

Notably, Trump's all three requests were quashed as Judge Merchan concluded in the letter, "For the foregoing reasons, Defendants motion to compel in DENIED and the people and Daniels motions to quash are GRANTED."
