Justin Bieber sparks debate as he ends partnership with Lou Taylor, hires Johnny Depp’s financial advisor
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Justin Bieber, the pop sensation, recently ended his association with his financial management team, including his longtime business manager Lou Taylor.
He has now hired Edward White, a renowned financial advisor noted for his work with Johnny Depp, according to People Magazine.
Justin Bieber parts ways with Lou Taylor
"They parted ways a few weeks ago in May," a source says of Bieber and Taylor. "It was a mutual and seamless transition. It wasn't a fit anymore."
In 2022, the 30-year-old 'Baby' singer linked his companies Bieber Time Touring LLC, Justin Bieber Brands LLC, and Bieber Time Merchandise with Taylor's firm, Tri Star Sports and Entertainment Group.
On Sunday, June 16, a representative for Justin Bieber told people, "Scooter Braun and SB Projects are not involved in Justin's current business or management and will not be involved moving forward. Justin is excited about the projects he is currently working on and is focused on what’s in front of him."
Taylor was previously accused of being involved in forming Britney Spears’ conservatorship.
In her bestselling memoir, 'The Woman in Me,' Spears also discussed Taylor, stating, "The conservator of the person is appointed to oversee aspects of the conservatee's life, such as their residence, diet, ability to drive, and daily activities."
"I firmly believe it was all orchestrated, with my father, mother, and Lou Taylor all involved ... It felt like my father and Lou's employee, Robin Greenhill, controlled every aspect of my life and scrutinized my every move. They treated me as if I were a criminal or predator," she added.
Justin Bieber has hired Edward White
Bieber has now enlisted the services of Edward White, who is known for founding Edward White & Co. in 1976.
The California-based firm, which recently merged with Eide Bailly, specializes in tax and consulting services and serves a clientele that includes numerous Hollywood personalities such as Jack Nicholson, Allen Paulson, and the estates of Lena Horne and Vin Scully
Since 2016, White and Depp, 61, have worked together closely. White testified in Depp's 2022 defamation case against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. In 2017, White assisted Depp with his finances and supported him in a lawsuit against The Management Group for mismanaging his assets prior to the Depp v Heard trial.
Bieber's most recent move came after he sold his 291-song catalog to Hipgnosis Songs Capital in 2023. Billboard valued the contract at slightly over $200 million.
Hipgnosis now holds a 100% interest in the profits from Bieber's writing and recording credits, as well as "neighboring rights," which are the earnings from public plays of his songs in venues such as stores and restaurants. However, Universal Music Group retains ownership of its recorded masters.
Social media users react to Bieber's decision to part ways with Lou Taylor
Several social media users weighed in on Bieber parting ways with Taylor. A user wrote on Reddit, “I’m not sure what’s going on with Justin Bieber but Lou Taylor is not good. I hope he is okay and his wife and baby bring him peace. I have so much empathy and compassion for child stars, it’s not easy navigating that industry as an adult and I imagine it would be harrowing as a child.”
Another user said, “I’m confused on why he even hired Lou Taylor considering her role in Britney’s conservatorship. I feel bad for him.”
A user said, “Didn’t Depp get into masses of debt? Don’t think that’s a sparkling indication of the guys talent.” [sic]
A user wrote, “Nearly Bankrupt's J*nny D*pp's financial advisor? That's certainly a choice.. lmao.” While a user wrote, “This is funny.”
