SAG HARBOR, NEW YORK: Justin Timberlake’s attorney claimed that the ‘Mirror’ singer was not intoxicated during his June arrest.

At a hearing on Friday, July 26, Ed Burke, told the court on the Sag Harbor case in June, “The most important fact to know about this case is that Justin was not intoxicated and should not have been arrested for DWI.”

“The police made a number of very significant errors in this case… Sometimes the police make mistakes and this is just one of those instances,” he added, according to a court statement reported by Variety

Timberlake will be re-arraigned on the misdemeanor charge in the coming days after correction in the complaint.

What did police officer say about Justin Timberlake's arrest?

Justin Timberlake was arrested on June 18 and was stopped by a Sag Harbor officer for weaving out of a lane and failing to stop at a stop sign.

As per the officer's statement, Timberlake performed poorly on a field sobriety test and refused to take a breathalyzer test. He added in his report that the singer’s eyes were “bloodshot” and “glassy” and he smelled of alcohol.

Timberlake confessed that he had one martini and was following his friends home when he was intervened by the police officer.

The attorney suggested that the original charging document should be dropped since it wasn't signed by a police sergeant.

“He cooperated with the police officers at all times and treated them with the respect they deserve. He also respects the entire judicial process including the District Attorney and Judge who were in court today. But the fact remains, he was not intoxicated and they made an error in arresting him for it. We are confident that this charge will be dismissed,” added the attorney.
