WASHINGTON, DC: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed Huffpost reporter SV Date and called the journalist a "left wing hack" on Monday, October 20, after his article poked at her response to a new inquiry.

Leavitt took to the social media platform X and shared screenshots of messages between her and Date, stating, "Activists who masquerade as real reporters do a disservice to the profession."

Karoline Leavitt says HuffPost reporter 'has consistently attacked President Trump'

Karoline Leavitt took to X to address the “wild” article. She wrote, “SV Date of the Huffington Post is not a journalist interested in the facts. He is a left-wing hack who has consistently attacked President Trump for years and constantly bombards my phone with Democrat talking points.”

In a screenshot shared by the White House Press Secretary, the question concerned President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming meeting in Budapest.

The text conversation showed Date writing, “Is the president aware of the significance of Budapest? In 1994, Russia promised, in Budapest, not to invade Ukraine if it gave up the nuclear weapons it inherited when the Soviet Union dissolved. Does he not see why Ukraine might object to that site? Who suggested Budapest?” Meanwhile, Leavitt replied, “Your mom did.”

Moreover, Date went on to ask if the prospect of his question was “funny” to Leavitt, and she replied, “Stop texting me your disingenuous, biased, and bulls**t questions.”

Leavitt also used the reporter’s profile as proof of her claims, stating that his feed “reads like an anti-Trump personal diary.” However, the reporter does not hide his disdain for the White House.

Date’s biography on the site says his latest book “captures Trump’s failed management of the coronavirus pandemic and his corruption of the Republican Party.” Moreover, he often criticizes the Trump administration on social media.

Reporter says HuffPost now feels 'fearful of asking any more questions'

SV Date’s article sarcastically stated that HuffPost was now “devastated” following Leavitt’s response, adding that the news outlet now feels “fearful of asking any more questions.”

He also referred to the “your mom” responses as “your tax dollars at work.” An X user labeled Date as “biased” and shared a screenshot of a 2023 post in which he wrote, “As a journalist, it’s not my job to tell you who to vote for. As a journalist, it IS my job to warn you that if we vote Donald Trump back into office, it may be the last vote we ever cast.”

Meanwhile, a HuffPost spokesperson told Fox News, “HuffPost stands by our reporters and our award-winning, fact-based journalism. We look forward to receiving a professional answer to our reporter’s detailed question.”
