‘Hope to represent you very soon’: Kate Middleton ‘apologizes’ for missing Irish Guards' final rehearsal before king's parade
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: In a recent letter shared by the Irish Guards on Saturday, June 8, Princess Kate Middleton expressed apologies for her inability to attend an annual pre-Trooping the Colour event. However, she said that she hoped to join them again in the near future to represent them, CBS reported.
The letter comes after Princess Kate, the honorary Colonel of the Army regiment, would not attend June 9's Colonel’s Review as she recovers from cancer treatments.
Kate Middelton apologises to Irish Guards
In a letter shared by the Irish Guards on X, the Princess of Wales apologized for not being there in her capacity as the guards' honorary colonel.
In the letter shared on X, she wrote, "Being your colonel remains a great honor and I am very sorry that I'm unable to take the salute at this year's Colonel's Review."

The Princess added, "Please pass my apologies to the whole regiment, however I do hope that I am able to represent you all once again very soon."
She began with appreciation, "I wanted to write and let you know how proud I am of the entire regiment ahead of the Colonel's Review and Trooping of the Colour," before adding, "I appreciate everyone trooping this year has been practicing for months, and dedicating many hours to ensuring their uniforms and drill are immaculate."
The Princess of Wales concluded her letter with the regiment's motto, "Quis Separabit," which translates to "Who shall separate us?" She signed it, "Colonel Catherine."
Kate was scheduled to observe the dress rehearsal of this year's Trooping the Colour, the military procession held in honor of the king's official birthday, which is being led by the Irish Guards.
Irish Guards' regiement 'touched' to receive the letter
The regiment also took to the social media platform X and thanked Princess for her letter. The regiment wrote, "The Irish Guards were deeply touched to receive a letter from our Colonel, Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales this morning."
It added, "We continue to wish Her Royal Highness well in her recovery and send Her our very best wishes. Quis Separabit."
The 42-year-old princess announced in a video message in March that she had received a cancer diagnosis and had begun chemotherapy.
The exact sort of cancer that Kate has and other information regarding her treatment have not been made public by the palace.
In her announcement, Kate requested privacy for herself and her family, stating, "We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space, and privacy while I complete my treatment."
The event marks the King's official birthday and includes a balcony appearance by the family at Buckingham Palace and a fly over by the Royal Air Force.
