Kelly Preston's daughter Ella Bleu Travolta celebrates late mother's 62nd birthday with heartfelt tribute

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ella Bleu Travolta is commemorating what would have been her mother Kelly Preston's 62nd birthday.

The 24-year-old singer-songwriter shared a nostalgic throwback photo of the late model-actress on Instagram on Sunday, October 13, accompanied by a touching message: "Happy Birthday, mama. I love you 🤍."

Kelly Preston, beloved for her roles in films like 'Jerry Maguire' and 'Twins', died in July 2020 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

The significance of Ella's tribute is further amplified by her recent musical endeavors. Shortly before her mother's birthday, she released the single 'Little Bird', along with a music video that features cherished family home videos, including moments with her late mother, father John Travolta, and younger brother Benjamin.

While discussing the song with People, Ella expressed that it reflects the importance of holding onto relationships with those we’ve lost.

"['Little Bird' is] about holding onto those pure relationships that you have with people that you lost and really just listening to yourself and staying true to that relationship with that person," explained the 24-year-old.

She added, "It's sort of the viewpoint of a mama bird talking to a baby bird and just not letting any other interference get in between it, because your true instincts were there all along."

"It had been a couple of years since my mom's passing, so I could take a step back and consider what I wanted to communicate about her and how I was feeling. I definitely felt her watching over me during the process, and I knew she would be proud," further shared the 24-year-old.

John Travolta also took a moment to remember Kelly Preston on her 62nd birthday. Taking to his Instagram Stories, the actor shared a glamorous red carpet photo of his late wife and wrote, "Happy birthday Kelly. We love you!" 

Ella's heartfelt expressions of love for her mother are a recurring theme in her life since Kelly’s death. In a previous Instagram post, she described her mother as "courageous, strong, beautiful, and loving," thanking her for the light she brought to the world.

"Anyone who is lucky enough to have known you or to have ever been in your presence will agree that you have a glow and a light that never ceases to shine and that makes anyone around you feel instantly happy," wrote the 24-year-old. 

"Thank you for being there for me no matter what. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your help and thank you for making this world a better place. You have made life so beautiful and I know you will continue to do so always. I love you so much mama," expressed Ella. 

She added, "I think it's so important, even when you lose someone, for it to be a celebration of their life."
