Purchased in 2017 with Preston, the Clearwater home was a place of joy for Travolta and their children - Ella, 24, and Ben, 13, before Preston's death from cancer in 2020. 

Sources close to Travolta have revealed the heartbreaking reason behind his decision to sell the mansion, which follows the death of his wife.

According to Radar Online, John Travolta is planning to sell his mansion due to the painful memories of lost loved ones, including his wife Kelly Preston and friend Kirstie Alley

After Preston’s death in 2020, fellow Scientologist Kirstie Alley purchased a nearby home to offer Travolta support. With both Preston and Alley now deceased, Travolta is seeking to move on from these memories.

An insider revealed: “When Kelly and John moved to Clearwater, they were eager to spend time with their Scientology pals, including Tom Cruise.”

The source added that while Cruise and his son, Connor, also own homes in Clearwater, Travolta and Cruise have reportedly grown apart, and Connor is busy with his own activities.

The 70-year-old 'Grease' star may have also distanced himself from Scientology, which opposes many modern medical treatments. It’s believed that Travolta and Preston went against Scientology’s stance by opting for chemotherapy to combat Preston’s advancing breast cancer.

Currently, Travolta and his children prefer their five-bedroom home on 9.5 acres in Ocala, a two-hour drive from Clearwater.
