Kevin Hart playfully calls Dwayne Johnson ‘idiot’ over Met Gala outfit
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kevin Hart always makes sure everyone hears his jokes loud and clear, especially when it comes to roasting his friends. The 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' star never misses a chance to poke fun at his longtime friend and frequent co-star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.
This time, Hart had plenty to say about Johnson’s outfit at the Met Gala 2026 on Monday, May 4. During a playful moment, the comedian joked, “He did look like an idiot at the Met Gala!” The reason behind Kevin Hart’s hilarious comment was Johnson’s bold skirt-inspired outfit at the Met.
Kevin Hart calls Dwayne Johnson an 'idiot'
While speaking to 'Extra’s Paul Costabile after the live finale of his Netflix comedy competition 'Funny AF', Hart reacted to Johnson’s look from the Met Gala 2026 in the most Kevin Hart way possible.
Looking directly into the camera, the comedian continued his longtime playful feud with Johnson and said, “No, I'm joking. Big fella, I love the fact you took a risk, man. And I love to see you in that space. Your first Met Gala, you know, I'm a champion you no matter what. You're my brother. I'll call you an idiot, but I won't let anybody else do it. You're my guy.”
The moment quickly reminded fans why Hart and Johnson’s friendship remains one of Hollywood’s most entertaining bromances. The two stars have built a reputation for constantly roasting each other in interviews, social media posts and public appearances, but it has always come from a place of genuine friendship.
Over the years, the duo has shared several viral moments. From funny skits where they traded insults back and forth to Johnson hilariously interrupting Hart’s Instagram Live sessions with sarcastic comments, the pair never misses a chance to troll each other.
Dwayne Johnson's Met Gala skirt look
Johnson officially made his debut at the Met Gala and made sure all eyes were on him with a bold custom look by Thom Browne. The 'Moana' actor arrived at fashion’s biggest night dressed in an all-black outfit that featured a mohair tailcoat, a crisp white vest and a pleated skirt layered over matching trousers.
He was joined on the red carpet by his wife, Lauren Hashian, who stunned in a white halter-neck gown from the designer. While speaking to reporters about his outfit, Johnson shared that the skirt detail was inspired by his Polynesian roots and traditional cultural fashion.
“I feel great!” he replied. “First, (Thom Browne’s team) sent the illustrations over and [asked], ‘Hey, is DJ going to be cool with this pleated skirt?’ And I was like, ‘Look, in our culture, Polynesian culture, we rock lavalavas, we rock skirts.’ The most masculine men, not that I’m one of them, but the most masculine men wear lavalavas and skirts.”
