Outrage as James Comer demands White House doctor testify on his business dealings with Biden family
WASHINGTON, DC: House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer called on White House physician Dr Kevin O’Connor to address inquiries regarding President Joe Biden's "declining mental state" and to disclose the physician's involvement in the business dealings of the Biden family.
Fox News Digital acquired the letter Comer sent to O’Connor on Sunday, July 8.
James Comer casts doubt on White House physician Dr Kevin O’Connor's medical evaluations of President Joe Biden
Comer aims to interrogate O’Connor regarding his "connections" with the Biden family and whether he is "in a position to provide accurate and independent reviews of the President’s fitness to serve."
The Republican seeks to know if O'Connor's medical evaluations of the president were unduly swayed by his associations with the Biden family and Americore.
"After a concerning debate performance by President Biden against former President Donald Trump on June 27, journalists have rushed to report on what Americans have seen plainly for years: the President appears unwell," wrote Comer, in his letter.
Comer stated that due to Americans questioning Biden's "ability to lead the country," his committee is investigating the circumstances surrounding O'Connor's assessment of the president in February.
He observed that O'Connor had concluded in February that the president "is a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the presidency."
Comer, however, referred to reports indicating that O'Connor had not advised Biden to undergo a cognitive test.
The Kentucky lawmaker further wrote, "The Oversight Committee is concerned your medical assessments have been influenced by your private business endeavors with the Biden family."
Comer hinted that the committee has acquired evidence indicating his involvement with Americore Health, LLC, along with President Biden's brother, James Biden.
Americore, an operator of rural hospitals, has been investigated by the House Oversight Committee as part of its impeachment inquiry into the president, particularly concerning the work of James, which netted him over $600,000.
James Biden did not render any services to Americore but was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars
According to the committee, James, while serving as a principal at Americore, was paid hundreds of thousands of dollars.
It was discovered that James received a wire transfer of $200,000 from the company in 2018, which he subsequently used to issue a $200,000 check to his brother, President Biden, labeling it a "loan repayment."
According to testimonies from Americore employees, James did not render any services to the company. Instead, he assured that his "Biden" name would attract funding from the Middle East for the struggling hospital operator.
Carol Fox, serving as a Chapter 11 trustee for Americore, testified that a loan was extended to him without any documentation, based on a promise of Middle Eastern funding that ultimately did not materialize.
She initiated legal proceedings against James, alleging that he engaged in "representations that his last name, ‘Biden,’ could ‘open doors’ and that he could obtain a large investment from the Middle East based on his political connections."
But during James’s interview with the committee earlier this year, he told investigators that O’Connor "provided him counsel in connection with the alleged work he was performing for Americore."
"I met with, for example – my brother wasn’t in office at the time. He was a private citizen. And I had gotten through his – as vice president, his personal physician was Colonel Kevin O’Connor," testified the president's brother, adding, "And Kevin O’Connor – there was a very – and still there is an outcry for a solution for post-traumatic stress disorder."
James further claimed that O'Connor "introduced me to a team" that worked with PTSD and alcoholism in the face of a "backlog" at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
House Committee seeks to understand the extent of Dr Kevin O’Connor's role at the White House at this time
In the letter, Comer also mentions that O'Connor, together with the president's son, Hunter Biden, "joined a meeting with Jim Biden and the president of a hospital being acquired by Americore."
The White House maintains that President Biden has not undergone a medical examination since February. However, during a recent meeting with Democratic governors, the president stated that "he was checked out by a doctor and that everything was fine."
"The statements by the White House Press Secretary and President Biden appear inconsistent, and the Committee seeks to understand the extent of your role at the White House at this time," noted Comer.
He added, "Given your connections with the Biden family, the Committee also seeks to understand if you are in a position to provide accurate and independent reviews of the President’s fitness to serve."
Comer has requested O'Connor to be available for a transcribed interview with the House Oversight Committee's counsel by July 14. Additionally, he is demanding all documents and communications O'Connor possesses concerning Americore and the president's brother.
This House GOP move comes amid calls for President Biden to abandon his reelection campaign, which includes notable Democrats, ex-staffers, and supporters.
The White House asserts that the POTUS is "absolutely not" contemplating withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race.
"I am running. I am the leader of the Democratic Party. No one is pushing me out," said President Biden last week.
Internet accuses Kevin O'Connor of lying about President Joe Biden's health
Several netizens seemed to agree with Comer's call for O'Connor to testify before the House Committee.
A Facebook user wrote, "That doctor needs his medical license removed!" and another added, "Biden physician will testify Biden is fit since 2020. They all are lying to American public. We can see the facts. Why don’t we impeach them. End of the story."
"The most corrupt administration in history. Supported by the most corrupt and immoral voters in history," fumed a person. Someone else said, "He’s not much of a doctor if he is saying this man is in his right mind."
"Corruption on every level," remarked one more, whereas another person pointed out, "He will claim Dr patient privilege. They need to require an independent neurologist evaluation."
