WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump's devoted daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, made an eerie prediction days before the former president narrowly escaped a fatal gunshot. Just three days before the failed assassination attempt on her father-in-law, Lara expressed concern for his safety in the 2024 presidential race.
In a podcast interview with Sage Steele, the RNC co-chair discussed casual topics like motherhood and her married life with Eric Trump. The conversation concerned the patriarch's safety as the host asked whether she even feared for his safety.
"I don't think he thinks about it that much, to tell you the truth," Lara replied, as per USA Today.
On July 13, nearly 72 hours after this remark, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired a series of gunshots aimed at Donald, who was addressing his supporters in Butler, Pennsylvania. A split-second head tilt saved the former president from the bullet that only pierced the upper side of his right ear, which otherwise would have penetrated his skull.

If Trump hadn't moved his head, the bullet would likely have hit the rear of his head, ending his life.

Lara Trump says Secret Service having hard time safeguarding Donald Trump
Lara, a member of Donald's close political circle, attributed the concerns for safety to his desire to connect with his supporters. She indicated that the Secret Service had a difficult time protecting him because of this character.
"I'm sure the Secret Service go crazy all the time because he's like, 'I want to go over and say hi to all these people,' and they're like, 'Sir ...'" she said. "But you know, that's why he is doing it. He wants to connect with people."
The real estate mogul met his supporters in Pennsylvania on an open stage under the clear sky, indicating how strangely Lara forecasted a threat to his life. The gunman aimed the Republican nominee from the rooftop of a factory only 130 yards away from the podium where he was speaking.
The Secret Service blamed the local law enforcement officials for not safeguarding the outer perimeters of the venue following mounting criticism against the federal agency.
Lara Trump says everyone close to Donald Trump concerned for his safety
Lara went on to praise her father-in-law's connection with his voters, deeming his choice to go into the crowd as one of his strong suits.
"That's where he shines and you see the true nature of this man," she told Steele, adding he could be put in any crowd and would do great, be it among billionaires, a bodega, Harlem, or the Bronx.
"You can put him in any crowd ... It doesn't matter where you send Donald Trump. He is authentic to the core and sometimes to a fault, I think, for some people. And he wants to be out there among people," the RNC co-chair said.
Noting that Donald could not allow himself to ponder his safety, she added, "But I think about it a lot, certainly, and I know those of us who are close to him think about it a lot."
Despite her concerns that seemed strange in light of the attempted assassination, Lara posted an image signaling how God protected her father-in-law from the gunshot. The image portrayed Donald with Jesus Christ behind him. "Fear not, for I am with you," read the caption on X (formerly Twitter).
