Lauren Sanchez claims she ‘launched’ Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau’s romance: ‘Thought they’d vibe’

PARIS, FRANCE: Power couple Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau just made their romance official, and they have none other than Lauren Sanchez to thank for it.

The singer and the former Canadian Prime Minister confirmed their relationship this weekend, stepping out hand-in-hand in Paris as they celebrated Perry’s 41st birthday.

According to celebrity columnist Rob Shuter, Sanchez, the former journalist who is married to billionaire Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, is proudly taking credit for bringing the two together after sensing “they’d vibe.”

Speaking to #ShuterScoop, an insider revealed that Sanchez played a pivotal role in the match, joking, “I’ve gone from launching rockets to launching romances.” The source added that Sanchez “thought they’d vibe instantly,” and as it turns out, “wow, did she call it.”

The couple, who were first linked earlier this year, reportedly hit it off right away. “Katy and Justin have insane chemistry,” the insider dished. “Katy thinks Justin’s witty and kind, and he’s in awe of her energy.”

Their latest appearance together, walking hand in hand through Paris, sent fans into a frenzy. The duo was later spotted leaving the Crazy Horse cabaret, with Perry turning heads in a slinky red dress and Trudeau looking dapper in a black suit and shirt.

Lauren’s connection to Perry goes beyond matchmaking. The two share a unique bond after flying to space together earlier this year. In April 2025, Sanchez and Perry joined an all-female crew on Blue Origin’s 11-minute suborbital flight, a mission that Sanchez herself co-piloted.

After the space adventure, Sanchez posted a heartfelt birthday tribute to the 'Firework' singer on Instagram, writing, “Happy birthday @katyperry I love you to space and back,” alongside a black-and-white photo of the pair.

Romance rumors between Perry, 41, and Trudeau, 53, began in July when they were seen dining together in Montreal. Earlier this month, speculation skyrocketed after the two were reportedly spotted kissing on a yacht in California.

Perry’s relationship status had been a hot topic since she split from longtime fiance Orlando Bloom shortly after the Blue Origin flight. The former couple share a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.

Meanwhile, Trudeau stepped down as Canada’s Prime Minister earlier this year after nearly a decade in office. He and his ex-wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, separated in August 2023 and share three children, Xavier (18), Ella-Grace (16), and Hadrien (11).
