HANOI, VIETNAM: A lip reader has decoded the conversation between French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron after the latter allegedly shoved her husband in his face.

The now-viral incident reportedly happened on Sunday, May 25, when the couple was preparing to deboard their plane in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi.

Lip reader claims tension was obvious between Emmanuel Macron and wife Brigitte

Commenting on the clip, the lip reader told The Express, “As the aircraft door opens, President Macron is seen turning toward Brigitte. In an unexpected moment, she pushes him in the face.”

“Realizing the door is already open and staff are witnessing the interaction, Emmanuel appears uncomfortable and quickly raises his hand with a forced ‘Hi,’” they shared.

The political leader then tried to look composed and even asked his wife to follow him by telling her, “Let’s go.”

“He thanks the pilot and waves at the cameras, trying to recover the public-facing image,” the expert said.

However, “things turn[ed] icy again” when Emmanuel and Brigitte were “at the top of the stairs,” the lip reader said.

Lip reader says Brigitte Macron was rude to husband Emmanuel Macron and called him ‘loser’

“He offers his arm; she ignores it, clinging to the railing instead. As she passes, she appears to mutter and lipread as 'Dégage, espèce de loser', translated in English 'Stay away, you loser,’” the lip reader claimed.

Even after the 47-year-old seemingly told his 72-year-old wife to “Essayons, s’il te plaît," which translates in English as, "Let's try, please?”, she rudely said, “No.”

The lip reader further mentioned that Macron's “closing expression, and the phrase lipread as ‘Je vois,’ translated in English [to] ‘I see,’ says it all.”

Concluding their analysis, the expert added, “Hot Take: A rare unguarded exchange that hints at deeper tensions between the couple. One to watch, especially with a packed diplomatic schedule ahead.”

Emmanuel Macron refutes tension claims

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Macron himself has dismissed any tension between him and the first lady.

In a statement, he said, “Everyone needs to calm down. People are saying all sorts of nonsense," as per Page Six.

A statement from his office also noted, “It was a moment where the president and his wife were decompressing one last time before the start of the trip by horsing around. It’s a moment of complicity. It was all that was needed to give ammunition to the conspiracy theorists,” as per France 24.
