WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Tim Scott said in a recent interview that he hopes Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley drops out from the race because he senses “desperation” from her campaign.

During an interview with Fox News, Scott said that Nikki Haley needs to realize that "this race is over" and added that it is best for America that they focus on Joe Biden.

Talking to the media outlet, Scott said, "Sometimes you wake up on a Monday morning and realize the race has already gone and the best thing you can do within 24 hours is to get out of the way. Nikki Haley ran the best race she could run and lately, it's desperation you can feel coming from her camp".

He further added, "When you feel that type of desperation, that means the race is already over and the leading person, Nikki Haley, has to come to the realization. She has to realize that this race is over. It is best for the country, not just the party, that we focus on Joe Biden."

Before this, Scott said on Sunday that Haley's statements had gotten worse when she dismissed harsh criticism from former President Donald Trump during a contentious GOP race.

Talking to Fox News, Scott said, "We see the Haley camp and the family referring to me as Judas Iscariot. We’re hearing a lot of chatter out of the Haley camp, not only just matching the rhetoric from the Trump side, but actually going further."

"Senator Judas – excuse me, Senator Scott," Haley's son Nalin said to Scott, 58, during a rally earlier this month. That remark was a swipe at the way Haley appointed him to a Senate seat in 2013 while she was the governor of the Palmetto State.

Scott backed Trump in January 2024 after dropping out of the 2024 race in November 2023. It is believed that he is competing to be Trump's vice presidential pick.

Internet trolls Tim Scott for his statement on Nikki Haley

People on the internet were not impressed with Tim Scott's comment on presidential candidate Nikki Haley and ended up trolling him. A user mentioned on X (formerly Twitter), "Tim needs to look in the mirror. He is desperation central," whereas one added, "Tim Scott is now officially a member of Maga Clan."

While a user also mentioned, "This coming from Tim “Desperation” Scott.," one user stated, "Tim Scott has chosen to put an end to his political career."

Another person added, "So, so done with Scott was a great guy until he got on the Trump train. And started taking orders," while one wrote, "That desperation he’s sensing is coming from his mentor in corruption, dishonesty and complete lack of morals."
