WASHINGTON DC: Commentator and writer Tucker Carlson praised entrepreneur and presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy in a Turning Point USA event and said he 'kind of likes Vivek' as a VP pick for former President Trump.

On February 21, 2023, Vivek Ramaswamy filed as a contender in the 2024 Republican primary and launched his presidential campaign. He publicly announced his candidacy during a 'Tucker Carlson Tonight' appearance.

Tucker Carlson's thoughts on Vivek Ramaswamy as Trump's VP pick

On being asked about his thoughts on Trump's VP pick, Carlson said, "I kind of like Vivek. Everyone beats up on Vivek for being 'he is a phony' and all these stuff. But I have covered a lot of campaigns going back to 1992 and I have noticed few things that I noticed in him too that the process of running for president, speaking 3 times a day and having people throw hostile questions at your face causes you to change. They all change."

He added, "I feel like Vivek's position has gotten much more sincere. I watch him with Nikki Haley and noticed that this is the guy who is very offended by her views. He is not attacking her because she is a woman, he is attacking her because he actually thinks her views are actually terrible for the country. And I love that."

Notably, a significant and drastic reduction in the number of federal agencies is Vivek's main campaign pledge.

Environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) activities are another major campaign topic for him. Vivek claims that these programs are harmful because they combine politics and business.

Internet divided on Tucker Carlson's take on Vivek Ramaswamy

People had mixed reactions to what Tucker Carlson had to say about Vivek Ramaswamy.

A user commented, "Vivek deserves it. He dominated all of the Republican debates while defending Trump", while one added, "How is Vivek a phony. He is letting even his intrusive thoughts out and being actively campaigning."

Another person wrote, "Who doesn’t like @VivekGRamaswamy if you are MAGA/America First? I agree with @TuckerCarlson, and I am biased FOR outsiders, but Vivek is an outsider in TWO ways: zero government experience - unlike Reagan or DeSantis (who isn’t hardcore AF unfortunately) and zero past history believing in America First principles. The dude literally came out of nowhere."

A user also stated, "Even Tucker like @VivekGRamaswamy !!! He’s the VP! He’s the natural successor! And @VivekGRamaswamy needs to pick @DonaldJTrumpJr as his VP in 2028!!!"

Meanwhile, a person mentioned, "I don’t like Vivek for VP. He’s too combative. Trump needs to balance the ticket. Preferably a VP who is more down the middle (center/right). One who is aligned with Trump’s “America 1st” policies. Trump would have a much better chance of unifying the country."

A user also stated, "But I seem to remember that Vivek had said he is not interested in being VP", while one said, "I think Sarah Huckabee Sanders would be a good choice."
