Hallmark star Mamie Laverock updates about recovery after fall from 5-story balcony left her hospitalized
VANCOUVER, CANADA: 'When Calls the Heart' star Mamie Laverock has achieved a significant "milestone" in her recovery journey two months after her five-story fall from a hospital balcony left Laverock on life support.
Laverock posted a video to her Facebook page on Friday, August 2, that captured the emotional moment when she stood and took her "first steps" following her tragic accident in May.
The 20-year-old Hallmark actress was admitted to the hospital on May 11 following an unspecified medical problem.

In a since-deleted video update that was shared on her official Facebook page on Friday, August 2, the 'When Calls the Heart' actress was seen getting up and walking for the first time since the May accident.
"Thank you surgeon's, thank you prayers, thank you Lord. Mamie has just taken her first steps," read the post, and the video was titled "Milestone Aug,2.24," as per TooFab.
The video began with two nurses approaching Laverock with a walker and giving her advice and support.
Wearing air casts on both legs, the Hallmark actress clutched both sides of the walker, pushed off the hospital bed, and stood up with help from the caregivers.
The hospital staff applauded Laverock as she exclaimed, "I'm standing!" before adding, "It does feel really weird. It feels really weird," as one of the nurses advised her to give the sensation some time to settle in.
Her father John Laverock was watching on FaceTime, and other family members, including her mother Nicole Rockmann, were present for the significant moment.
Laverock admitted that she felt "really wobbly" on her feet. She also said, "Oh my gosh, the ski boots are really hard," before attempting a small "shuffle" with her right foot.
She then followed the instructions to "put all [her] weight on the right and a tiny bit on the left," balancing herself with her hand gripped by the medic.
Though initially she felt "like I'm going to fall backward," with gentle guidance from the medical professionals, Laverock was able to move one foot slightly.
Mamie turned to face her father and said, "Hi, Dad…. Look, I'm standing with the walker, all by myself."
She eventually succeeded in taking one stride, and then another, to the sudden outburst from off-screen, "Oh my gosh, feet moving! Moving feet."
Laverock was admitted to the hospital on May 26 following a "medical emergency," and was left in severe condition after falling five floors from a balcony walkway.
Her family set up a GoFundMe page at the time, which has since closed, stating that she suffered "life-threatening injuries" from the fall, which happened after she had been moved to a Vancouver hospital.

The significant moment was released a few weeks after the GoFundMe page set up by Mamie Laverock's family for their daughter, who had a "medical emergency" in May, was closed.
Her supporters showered her with gifts, and her crowdfunding campaign brought in $39,022 (equivalent to $28333.27 USD), exceeding its goal of $30,000 (in Canadian dollars), per Daily Mail.
Along with sharing the news on the website, Laverock's parents, Nicole Rockmann and stepfather Rob Compton, also shared a note that seemed to have been penned by the 20-year-old actress.
"Thank you so much. I don't even know what to say. My heart is full," the text read. "Thank you again. I have no words to describe my gratitude. Love you guys. Thank you. MAMIE."
Her parents reportedly shared a note from Laverock, stating that they were closing the GoFundMe and thanking supporters for their love, support, and contributions.
They stated: "The Fund has now closed. Please know how much you helped this family in our hardest circumstances. Thank you for caring. Warmth, Nicole and Rob."
The Hallmark actress celebrated her 20th birthday on July 8 while undergoing treatment. The following day, Laverock's mother Rockmann posted a picture of herself holding her daughter in the hospital room on Facebook along with a health report.
"Mamie moved onto her stomach, pushed herself up and held onto me.. at that moment we realized we could have our first hug," she wrote at the time, "Thank you Rob for capturing this moment," addressing her husband Rob Compton.
