MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by an Australian man who says he plans to move into Billie Eilish’s Malibu home, citing the singer’s recent comments at the Grammy Awards that “no one is illegal on stolen land.”

The fundraiser was created after Eilish criticized US immigration enforcement and spoke out against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during the awards ceremony.

Grammys speech cited in Malibu housing claim

According to the campaign description and accompanying posts on X, the organizer, named Drew Pavlou, said he was motivated by Eilish’s remarks about immigration and land ownership in the United States.

He wrote that her comments inspired him to attempt to relocate to the US and take up residence in her beachside property.

“I was inspired by Billie Eilish’s recent statement at the Grammys that ‘no human being is illegal’ and now intend to fly to America to move into her beachside house at Malibu,” the man wrote in a post shared alongside the fundraiser.

The statement was part of a broader message condemning immigration enforcement practices and expressing solidarity with undocumented immigrants.

Fundraiser seeks travel money for Malibu move

In the fundraiser description, the organizer said he took Eilish’s words at face value and acted on them.

He described himself as a foreign national who wants to move to the United States and claimed that her comments mean such a move should not be considered illegal.

He said the money would go toward his airfare, travel expenses, and anything else he would need to attempt to take over the property. The man said his original post was removed from GoFundMe, prompting him to move the fundraiser to GiveSendGo.

There, he wrote, “Billie Eilish announced at the Grammys that no human being is illegal on Stolen Land. I am therefore raising funds to fly to America and move into her $6 million Malibu mansion.”

“Everything here is completely and totally legal, I am just going to set up a tent on her driveway and I will leave when they formally ask me to leave. Please donate to help with travel and filming costs.”

Eilish has previously used award show appearances and interviews to address political and social issues, including climate change, immigration, and policing. Her Grammys comments drew attention for her direct criticism of ICE.
