WASHINGTON, DC: Marjorie Taylor Greene has publicly broken ranks with Fox News, accusing the conservative network of spreading “fake news” and “brainwashing boomers” over its coverage of President Donald Trump’s military actions in Iran.

The former Georgia congresswoman, once a vocal Trump ally and frequent Fox News guest, made the remarks in a post on X on March 30, signaling a widening rift within MAGA circles over US involvement in the Middle East.

Greene’s criticism comes as tensions escalate following the deployment of thousands of US troops to the region, a move she has openly opposed.

Marjorie Taylor Greene slams Fox News coverage

Greene lashed out at the network while reacting to reports of troop deployment, writing, “Fox News is now the fake news. Brainwashing boomers to support what we voted against.”

She was responding to a post by conservative commentator Ann Coulter, who also criticized the network’s portrayal of the Iran conflict.

“Watching Fox News assure viewers the Iran war is going SUPER well and Trump is a total stud is like watching the same network assure viewers that Dominion Voting Systems rigged the 2020 election and Trump was the winner,” Coulter wrote on X on March 30.

Her remarks referenced the defamation case involving Dominion Voting Systems, which ended in a $787M settlement after false claims about the 2020 election were aired.

Trump, White House respond

Trump defended the military campaign during an appearance on Fox News’ ‘The Five’, arguing that Iran’s leadership had been weakened by “Operation Epic Fury.” The network also aired commentary from host Mark Levin supporting troop deployment.

However, internal polling published by Fox News showed 59% of Americans disapproved of Trump’s performance as commander in chief, while 58% opposed the Iran conflict.

Trump criticized the poll during the interview, saying, “I hate Fox polls. Honestly, whoever does your polls are terrible.”

Rift over ‘America First’

Marjorie Taylor Greene framed her opposition around the “America First” agenda, arguing that the conflict contradicts promises to avoid foreign wars.

“It’s a cruel irony that the American troops soon to be sent into Iran will be Gen Z and millennials (again), by the very President and admin that promised no more foreign wars, to make life affordable for Americans, and a strong American economy producing good American jobs,” she said on March 30.

Greene’s latest remarks mark a continued fallout with Trump, following earlier disagreements over issues including the release of files linked to Jeffrey Epstein.
