WASHINGTON, DC: Georgia Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene set off a firestorm by declaring that America’s current woes are the result of divine "punishment" for abortion, which she called the "murdering of babies."

Her comments come as the nation grapples with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, a catastrophic storm that has claimed over 160 lives and left FEMA scrambling to provide relief.

Marjorie Taylor Greene rejects FEMA funding plea

During a fiery town hall meeting, Marjorie Taylor Greene didn't mince words when asked about FEMA’s plea for additional funds to aid in hurricane recovery.

Despite the desperate need, she flatly refused to support more funding for the agency, stating, "I'm not giving them a damn penny!" She pointed to the $640 million allocated for assisting migrant arrivals as a misuse of taxpayer dollars, arguing that those funds should be redirected.

Marjorie Taylor Greene links national disasters to divine punishment over Roe v Wade in fiery rant

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s controversial remarks quickly turned to a broader condemnation of the nation's morality. She linked the disasters, both natural and political, to what she described as divine retribution for Roe v Wade, the landmark 1973 ruling that legalized abortion.

“We've been murdering babies since 1983,” Greene said, mistakenly referencing the year of the ruling. “It’s no wonder that our nation feels like it is under judgment. And I say that as a Christian. And I think that's true. And politics is literally in America today is a fight between good and evil. And the line is clear."

Her stance comes at a time when FEMA is stretched thin, as Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas revealed that the agency is struggling to keep up with the demands of hurricane recovery. The powerful storm swept through the Southeast, inundating numerous towns and claiming over 160 lives.

Notably, FEMA's budget for the fiscal year 2024, which commenced on October 1, 2023, is approximately $30 billion, while the proposed budget for 2025 is around $33 billion.

Netizens mock Marjorie Taylor Greene's religious rhetoric

Marjorie Taylor Greene, the outspoken Georgia congresswoman known for her firebrand rhetoric and controversial views, has once again sparked a wave of backlash.

"Moscow Marge is a reminder that we need more civics education and less religion. We also need to bring stable, sane, intelligent people with a drive to truly serve others to Congress instead of unstable, ignorant, weirdo religious zealots with no idea what Congress is supposed to do," said a user.

"She couldn't keep her mouth shut for 30 more days. It's been so nice the last couple of months, not having to hear her insane idiotic, extreme lies. She tried to stay quiet until the election hoping people would forget how insane she is, but she just couldn't make it," said a second.

"Seems like God would more likely be upset with the extremist Christians for losing sight of Christ's teachings entirely, and instead claiming He demands lies, avarice, wrath and cruelty from them," added a third.

"Blame it on Gawd…..he’s causing global warming. Of course a real Christian knows Gawd is forgiving and Satan is the vengeful fallen angel. Gawd does not punish…..he turns the other cheek. Gawd is not to be feared….. he is to be cherished. Yet we keep hearing about the wrath of Gawd….. Bottom line…..she don’t know shit about Gawd and don’t give a shit about Gawd. She worships the second cumming of Fred Trump!!!" said another.

"Sounds like someone’s mom told her for her whole life that she wished she had gotten that abortion….she sure takes this shit kinda personal!!!!" read a remark.

"MoronTG is proof positive you can't cure stupid," penned a user.

"MTG is our punishment for allowing school shootings. Or maybe Republicans are our punishment for allowing school shootings," stated another.

"America's problems are God's punishment for Georgians being so stupid and racist that they elected MTG to any public office," commented a user.
