NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Georgia Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted about her daughter Taylor Greene, a softball player at the University of North Carolina, on February 7 on the occasion of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

However, she referenced her stance against the inclusion of trans athletes in women's sports, which led to netizens having split takes on the post.

What did Marjorie Taylor Greene post on X?

The Congresswoman took to the social media platform to share that the efforts she had put in behind her daughter, who was not named in the post, to get her to national championships had been among the "greatest moments" for her as a mother.

"Driving her to countless practices, traveling the entire country for her national tournaments, scrubbing out impossible stains in her uniforms, making her ice packs and ice baths, cheering her on from the stands, taking a million pictures and videos, giving her hugs and shedding tears after tough losses and national championships are some of the greatest moments of being her Mom," she wrote.

"Because I raised a daughter who knows and has what it takes to compete among the best girls and women in the world, I will always fight to keep the fake girls and women, the boys and men, out of our sports! "

"Celebrating the real girls and women athletes on this National Girls and Women in Sports Day!" she concluded, along with a photograph of her daughter swinging on the pitch.

Internet reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene's tweet

Netizens were divided in their opinions on MTG's post, as the following comments demonstrate.

"There are 100 ways to make this same post and push the same views without being divisive. That’s the problem. Congrats on your daughter," wrote a user, as another stated, "The first paragraph was from a mother. The rest was a politician using their child to further their agenda."

"Great job Marjorie! I bet you love her with all your heart and her likewise! Her Dad loves her too! It couldn't have been easy with your political arrangement! Thank you for your efforts and dedication!" expressed a user.

A user gave a friendly reminder, saying, "Congratulations on your daughter, however, you made the post about you instead of her."

"When you are such a horrible human being, you can't even praise your own child without insulting the children of other women," said another user.

While one user commented, "Can’t agree more! I have a daughter that was an excellent athlete and worked very hard for years to be the best. Biological men have no place in woman’s sports!"

"Why do you always have to bring chaos into everything you tweet? Congratulations to your daughter but why do you persist in being a jerk ?" enquired another user.
