EDMOND, OKLAHOMA: What began as a crowded “Sunday Funday” event on May 3 turned into chaos after a shooting near Arcadia Lake campground in Oklahoma left at least 12 people injured and sent to hospitals, according to local reports. The incident triggered a large-scale emergency response as authorities rushed to secure the area and assist victims.
A massive multi-agency operation involving Edmond Police, Oklahoma City Police, Edmond Fire Department, and Oklahoma Highway Patrol was launched around 9 pm after reports of gunfire at the popular camping site. First responders described a chaotic and fast-moving scene as they arrived.
“This is obviously a very terrifying situation,” Edmond Police spokesperson Emily Ward said, adding, “We are working extremely hard to find the suspects.” She also confirmed that victims were in “various” conditions.
Nine people were taken to Integris Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, while three others were admitted to Integris Health Edmond Hospital, according to hospital officials.

Witnesses described scenes of panic and confusion, with several people saying friends and relatives were among the injured. One witness said her “cousin and sister were shot,” while another reported being shot in the leg but surviving.
Others said they heard at least 30 gunshots as people fled the area, with some running into nearby woods to escape. Images circulating online showed a white sedan with what appeared to be blood streaks along its side.

Police said most attendees were teenagers and adults attending a scheduled “Sunday Funday” gathering at Scissortail Campground near Arcadia Lake. No children were present at the time of the incident.
