Matt Damon reveals ‘non-negotiable’ rule he and Luciana follow as they prepare to be empty nesters
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Matt Damon has shared one “non-negotiable” rule he and his wife Luciana Barroso follow as a family of six as they prepare to be empty nesters.
The actor shares three biological daughters, Isabella, 20, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15, and one adopted daughter, Alexia, 27, with his producer wife of over two decades. The eldest two are already out of the house to build their new lives.
Matt Damon says he and Luciana are 'really trying to be in the moment'
During a recent interview with PEOPLE, Damon said, “I feel like we are facing it and embracing the fact that it’s happening. We’ve been talking a lot about presence and about really trying to be in the moment, and because you can’t slow time down, the only way to really do it is to really be there and be in it.”
‘The Odyssey’ star further shared that it’s not easy to avoid phones for his family but they are “trying to be mindful of holding onto what we can.” “We have family dinner every night, and that’s non-negotiable, and it’s always been that way,” he added.
Matt Damon says they're all working on 'family mindfulness'
But as per Damon, sometimes he and his wife forgot their own rule and got busy on phones while working during dinner.
“One of my daughters said, ‘Well, family dinner, last night we didn’t talk.’ And we realized, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re right.’ We sat down for dinner, and you can get lost in that routine a little bit and not appreciate why you established the routine in the first place,” he explained.
The ‘Interstellar’ actor added, “So again, that’s the kind of family mindfulness we’re all working on.”
Matt Damon was 'really excited' to meet his daughters at 'The Odyssey' London premiere
Earlier in July, Damon expressed his happiness over the presence of all his children at the London premiere of ‘The Odyssey’.
He reportedly said, “It’s great because they had to sacrifice a lot too for this. I went away for a while, they came and visited, but it was a lot. It was a very long movie, very grueling shoot, and I’m really excited for my girls to see it tonight.”
Damon plays the titular role of Odysseus in the movie while Anne Hathaway plays his on-screen wife Penelope. Tom Holland is seen as their son Telemachus, and his wife Zendaya as Athena.
