Luciana Barroso surprises Matt Damon after emergency surgery
Although the couple missed the 2024 Oscars ceremony, Barroso later surprised Damon by getting dressed and accompanying him to an after-party.
It was the first night she felt well enough to get up and go out after her surgery.
Damon explained that Barroso remembered him missing the 2007 Oscars, when 'The Departed' won Best Picture, because he was filming 'The Bourne Ultimatum'.
He had watched the ceremony from home that year and later regretted not being there to celebrate the film's big win.

This time, Barroso did not want him to miss another special moment. Despite still recovering from the medical emergency, she encouraged him to get ready and enjoy the evening together.
“She was like, ‘This time we’re going out,’” Damon recalled. He said her decision was “pretty heroic” and “really meaningful,” especially after everything she had been through that week.
The actor also reflected on how much the gesture meant to him, as it allowed them to share a moment of celebration after an otherwise difficult period.
