WASHINGTON, DC: Ruby Freeman, a Georgia volunteer poll worker, gave a compelling statement on Wednesday, December 13, recalling the two times she had called the police for assistance because she believed that someone in Donald Trump's 2020 campaign may have tried to kill her.

She said that her phone was "just ringing, ringing, ringing. Just ringing non-stop" on December 4, 2020, following Rudy Giuliani's public comments in which he falsely claimed that she had manipulated votes in the previous month's presidential election, as per CNN

Ruby Freeman received 'horrible racist threat calls' after Rudy Giuliani's accusations

Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss, are suing Giuliani over remarks he made about them after the 2020 election that they claim are defamatory. The evidence was heard on Wednesday in the trial that will establish the amount of damages the former Trump lawyer has to pay.

Given the duo's demand for millions of dollars in damages and Giuliani's prominence—he is required by the judge to be in court every day—the case in Washington, DC, has the potential to become a landmark case in the field of defamation court cases.

While the former president is awaiting his own criminal prosecution in the same courtroom, the lawsuit has also brought attention back to the human cost of the misinformation that Trump and his allies allegedly disseminated during the 2020 election.

After the initial video of Giuliani spreading falsehoods about them was released, Freeman claimed, "I just started getting phone calls, text messages, emails, the phones just going crazy."

Her phone rang so often during her interview to file a police complaint that the police lieutenant had to answer it when she went to report some of the calls.

A transcript of one of Freeman's 911 calls was also shown to the jury on Wednesday in court. She stated that when she first heard the voicemails, she thought they were "horrible," "racist," and "scary."

As one of the voicemails was played, which included a woman's voice repeatedly using the [N-word], the courtroom remained motionless while Freeman dabbed at her eyes with a tissue. Giuliani looked on indifferently.

Internet reacts to Ruby Freeman's claim of receiving threat calls after Rudy Giuliani's false allegations

Soon after the claims made by Ruby Freeman against Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani surfaced, netizens couldn't help but comment on the situation.

One noted, "May Rudy and trump be left with nothing, but the most incompetent public defenders and may they rot in prison for the remainder of their pathetic lives."

Another stated, "Trumpets aren't smart enough to realize they are cannon fodder for Trump."

"Need to sue him again for lying outside court," said a person, with someone else expressing, "The founding fathers never never could have foreseen this _hit show that Trump has led!!!!"

"It's fascinating that the republican party still claims to be the party of law and order and tough on crime," exclaimed an individual.

One more chimed in, "I hope they (Rudi and Trump) live the rest of their lives in the same kind of pain they inflicted on those women."

Another person added, "I'm very angry over what Rudy Nosferatu Giuliani has put these women through. His hubrice and arrogance won't allow him to first .. admit that he lied. Two simply apologize for what he's done to these law abiding citizens."
