Miley Cyrus’ cushion-cut engagement ring from Maxx Morando estimated up to $450K: Experts
LOS ANGELES, CA: Miley Cyrus appeared to confirm a major personal milestone this week after stepping onto the red carpet at the 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' world premiere wearing a striking diamond ring.
The singer, 33, attended the December 1 event in Los Angeles alongside longtime partner Maxx Morando, 27, and was photographed with a large cushion-cut sparkler on her left hand. On December 2, a source confirmed that the couple is officially engaged.
Cyrus paired the ring, set on a chunky gold band, with a black strapless Gucci gown, and the jewel was impossible to miss.
Ring design and experts' evaluation
What began as a red-carpet speculation turned into confirmation less than 24 hours later. Jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche crafted the bespoke engagement ring, her representative Francesca Simons told People.
The piece features a cushion-cut stone set horizontally on a thick 14-carat yellow gold-band. Daniela Tarantino, Blue Nile's VP of merchandising, estimated in a press email that Cyrus' diamond is "a chunky golf east-west bezel set ring," noting the stone appears to be "roughly a 4-5 carat modified cushion that costs around $300,000 to $450,000."
Reyne Hirsch, worthy brand ambassador and former Antiques Roadshow appraiser, placed the retail value slightly lower, reportedly saying, that the ring could be worth between $150,000 and $250,000.
"The ring is stunning with a very modern and minimalist look to it," Hirsch said, adding that the east-west orientation and size of the stone heavily influence its valuation.
Kristy Cullinane, co-founder of Plum Diamonds, pointed out that the value varies dramatically depending on whether the stone is mined or lab-grown. "The diamond appears to be approximately 4 to 5 carats, and the estimated value of the ring would be $200,000+ for a mined diamond or $15,000 for a lab-grown diamond," she said.
Timeline of Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando's relationship
Cyrus and Morando's relationship stretches back four years. They were first linked in December 2021 after being photographed together backstage during Miley's New Year's Eve Party in Miami. Their relationship was first confirmed in 2022, when the couple were photographed together in West Hollywood.
In a June 2023 British Vogue cover story, Cyrus revealed that their first meeting was arranged. "We got put on a blind date," she said. "Well, it was blind for me and not really for him. I thought, 'the worst that can happen is I leave."
Cyrus later addressed their six-year age gap in a November 2024 interview with Harper's Bazaar, saying it works because they "just don't take life too seriously."
She joked about their generational difference saying, "He grew up with a laptop, I had a desktop computer that I shared with my brothers and sisters."
By March 2024, the couple reportedly moved in together.
