Lambert said Parton's presence continues to inspire artists and recalled some of the moments they shared, including the advice the country icon gave her when they first met.
Miranda Lambert reveals Dolly Parton's influence on 'Crisco'
Speaking with Billboard on Friday, October 2, about her new album, Lambert couldn't hold back her thoughts on how the country singer was a source of inspiration. “Dolly’s all over this, energy-wise,” Lambert, 42, said.
“I feel like Dolly’s one of those people who will be here forever, even if it’s not on this Earth, but she’s always been an angel, anyway,” she added. “I feel like she’s going to show up even more in our music and just keep influencing and blazing the trail even from up there," she did not fail to mention the “Jolene” singer.
On 'A Song to Sing,' which Lambert recorded with Chris Stapleton, the singer shared that she aimed to channel the same energy that Parton and Kenny Rogers brought to their collaborations. In the music video, the 'Kerosene' singer wore a pair of Parton's earrings, while Stapleton wore a necklace that belonged to Rogers, who passed away at the age of 81 in 2020.
“We went fully ‘70s and down to the Brentwood Skating Center to film the video and who knew that Chris can skate really well, by the way?” Lambert told the publication. “I mean, that was not on my bingo card, believe me.”
Miranda Lambert recalled meeting Dolly Parton in 2018
She also recalled the moment she met Parton for the first time in 2018, when they sang her song 'Dumb Blonde' together for the 'Dumplin’' soundtrack.
“I got to the studio, I walked in, and there’s cameras and lights everywhere. She grabs my shoulders and says, ‘Honey, find your good light. Always find your good light,’ and she turned my shoulders to the pretty light,” the artist said.
She continued, “I use that every single day when I’m doing camera stuff. I was like, ‘Thank you, Dolly.’ But in general, ‘Find your good light’ meant way more than that. I live by that... I mean, that’s her first words to me, so of course, I’ll never forget them.”
Dolly Parton's death and lasting legacy
Parton's death has been one of the most shocking losses in the Hollywood fraternity. On August 25, the 'Jolene' singer's death was announced by her team. Later, singers and movie personalities shared emotional tributes, with some reflecting on how she inspired them, while others remembered her calm and poised nature.
Some also spoke about the legacy she left behind and how beautiful she was both inside and out. Lambert also paid tribute to Parton following her death.
She shared a sweet photo of the two of them working together in the studio on social media. “Thank you for everything Dolly. I will always love you. Fly high honky tonk angel,” she wrote on Instagram.
