KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE: While the focus of recent news coverage has been on Hurricane Milton, the monstrous storm that swept through Florida, the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Helene continues to haunt southeastern United States.

Helene wreaked havoc in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and east Tennessee just a few weeks ago, leaving a trail of destruction that has claimed over 230 lives.

As communities grapple with the catastrophic aftermath, the road to recovery is long and challenging.

Amid this disaster, many have stepped up to help. One of those is country music star Morgan Wallen, whose efforts have made a meaningful impact on the lives of those affected by the hurricane, as per WhiskeyRiff.

Morgan Wallen organizes food and water drive to help Hurricane Helene victims

Morgan Wallen, in partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee, held a food and water drive in Knoxville to help the victims of Hurricane Helene on October 11, Friday.

The initiative was organized to collect essential supplies, particularly bottled water and non-perishable food items, for those in dire need following the storm's destruction.

Wallen, who grew up in east Tennessee, has always shown a deep connection to his roots, and this drive was just one way he could give back to the community that shaped him.

With the assistance of his friends, including comedian Theo Von, Wallen was physically present at the event, helping to collect donations and showing his personal commitment to the cause.

His presence, alongside his celebrity friends, brought added attention to the drive, encouraging even more people to step up and contribute to the relief efforts.

The drive was a resounding success, with six trucks loaded with nearly 150,000 pounds of food destined to aid those affected by Hurricane Helene.

The supplies collected will be used to support those who lost everything in the storm, helping them take the first steps towards rebuilding their lives.

However, Wallen's humanitarian efforts didn't stop at gathering supplies.

He took the time to visit several communities that had been hit hard by the flooding, including areas where homes were reduced to little more than bare studs.

One of the families Wallen visited had lost their entire home to the floodwaters, which rose to such heights that many residents had to be rescued by boat.

The situation was particularly heartbreaking, but Wallen's visit brought a glimmer of hope to those who felt they had lost everything.

Morgan Wallen inscribes Bible verse on exposed wooden studs of a home

During his visit to one of the homes destroyed by the flood, Morgan Wallen did something deeply personal and meaningful. He decided to leave a message for the family that had been displaced—a message rooted in his faith.

Raised in a religious household, Wallen is the son of Tommy Wallen, a Baptist preacher who served as a pastor in Sneedville, Tennessee.

Wallen grew up with a strong connection to the church, and that faith has continued to be an integral part of his life.

As a tribute to both his upbringing and his desire to offer spiritual comfort, Wallen inscribed a Bible verse on the exposed wooden studs of the home, which had been stripped bare by the flood.

The verse he chose was Psalm 40:2 from the King James Version of the Bible, which reads: “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.”

This verse, which speaks of being lifted from despair and set on solid ground, holds special meaning in a region like Appalachia, where the King James Version is often the preferred translation of the Bible.

Wallen's efforts to support Hurricane Helene victims extend beyond the food drive.

Understanding the ongoing need for relief in the region, he launched a limited-edition HELP shirt on his website, with 100% of the proceeds going towards the recovery efforts.

All funds raised from the shirt will benefit the Morgan Wallen Foundation, which is working in partnership with the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee and MANNA FoodBank of Western North Carolina to provide long-term assistance to those impacted by the hurricane.
