EAST TENNESSEE, TENNESSEE: Morgan Wallen is stepping up to aid his home state of East Tennessee in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

On Monday, September 30, the country singer donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross through his Morgan Wallen Foundation to help those affected by the storm.

Morgan Wallen’s heartfelt statement

Before making the generous donation, Morgan Wallen took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the devastation following the hurricane.

"My family in East Tennessee are safe, but I know many are absolutely devastated there and in multiple states," he wrote in his Instagram Stories.

"It is going to take a monumental effort and I am in contact with my team and others working on ways I can help," he added.

Wallen is the first celebrity to make such a significant contribution toward the recovery efforts for Hurricane Helene, which has caused catastrophic flooding and destruction across several states.

Red Cross response to Morgan Wallen’s donation

Expressing gratitude for Morgan Wallen’s donation, with Trevor Riggin, the organization’s national president for humanitarian services, the American Red Cross praised the singer.

"We can't thank Morgan Wallen enough for his heart and generous $500,000 donation," stated Riggin.

The funds will provide immediate relief to the hardest-hit areas, including Wallen’s home state of East Tennessee.

Impact of Hurricane Helene

As of September 30, the death toll from Hurricane Helene has risen to 107, with hundreds of people still missing, according to People.

Northeast Tennessee has been particularly hard-hit, with 153 people reported missing and flash flooding triggering widespread damage.

Over the weekend, 50 people were rescued from a hospital roof after flooding, and more than 1.5 million remain without power across several states, including South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina.
