LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Robert Downey Jr stirred up a debate on the internet with his recent interview comments about Margot Robbie's 'Barbie' snub at the Oscars. Downey emphasized that Robbie deserves more recognition for her impactful role in the blockbuster film.

Downey isn't alone in his disappointment; Ryan Gosling, a fellow industry figure and Robbie's co-star in 'Barbie', who earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Ken, also conveyed his sense of letdown.

Gosling conveyed his dismay over the absence of nominations for Robbie in the Best Actress category and director Gerwig in the Best Director category at the Oscars.

Robert Downey Jr says Margot Robbie isn't getting right credit for 'Barbie'

As reported by Variety, Downey recently participated in an hour-long discussion with fellow Best Supporting Actor SAG Award nominees Sterling K Brown for 'American Fiction' and Willem Dafoe for 'Poor Things.' During the conversation, Downey praised Robbie, the leading lady in 'Barbie,' stating that she isn't receiving the credit she deserves this season.

The trio discussed the subtleties of screen acting, with Brown emphasizing the power of a performer just listening on camera.

Downey added, “It never fails to impress and remind me how little you need to do to be effective. Just the simplest version of expression, that’s what the camera wants. The closer the camera gets, the more it wants it. Time and time again, it’s demonstrated that it’s super effective.”

Delving further into his perspective on Robbie's portrayal in 'Barbie,' Downey emphasized, “Margot Robbie is not getting enough credit, in my opinion." Drawing on America Ferrera's Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 'Barbie', Downey commended a particular scene where Robbie actively listens, highlighting Greta's skillful direction.

As per Variety, Downey stated, "America has this amazing speech. And by the way, she nails it! I’m watching it and go, ‘Wow, that was a really tough one. That’s like a one-act play. The whole movie hinges on it.’ But it’s the cuts away to Robbie so actively listening that I realize Greta is really on to something here.

But it’s Robbie who had to trust … and it’s hard when someone who has the f**king two-page passage and they go, ‘Ok now let’s jump in and get Bob,’ and you’re like, ‘I’ve been listening to this all day and now I have to make it work!'”

According to Variety, Robbie, despite the Oscar snub, remains a nominee for Best Picture as a producer on 'Barbie'.

During a panel at a special Screen Actors Guild screening in Los Angeles, Robbie addressed the reactions to her Oscars snub, expressing delight in 'Barbie' receiving eight nominations at the Oscars.

A user commented, "The movie was overhyped as hell.. it was good and fun but in no way does it deserve Oscar noms… not even gosling sorry."

A user addressed Downey and Robbie and GOAT (Greatest of All Time) and wrote, "GOAT RECOGNIZES GOAT."

"Sorry, her performance in Barbie wasn't a feat and everyone knows it. It was for his role in Babylon that all this media hype had to be made. People talk just to talk because everyone talks. It's called the conformist," one user wrote.
