Natalie Portman makes rare comment on motherhood after welcoming ‘magical’ third child
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Natalie Portman is opening up about welcoming her third child with partner Tanguy Destable, describing the experience as one filled with wonder and joy.
The Oscar-winning actress, 45, shared her feelings about becoming a mother again in a profile with Harper’s Bazaar published on October 26.
Portman also reflected on how motherhood has changed her perspective on raising her older children, son Aleph, 15, and daughter Amalia, 9, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Benjamin Millepied.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Portman described her happiness following the arrival of her newest addition in August.
“I'm full of wonder and joy at this magical little human,” she said, adding that the experience has given her a renewed appreciation for her older children.
“It gives me a whole new attention to my big kids too,” Portman explained.
“I am reminded of how recently they were these little fresh creations and how quickly they’ve blossomed into incredible humans with their own amazing personalities and senses of humor and ideas.”
Portman shares Aleph and Amalia with Millepied, 49. The actress and the French dancer married in 2012 and divorced in 2024 after rumors of an affair involving Millepied surfaced.
Portman has not publicly revealed her third child's name or gender. However, reports indicated that she gave birth earlier this summer in Paris, France.
Portman first announced her pregnancy in April during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, expressing her excitement about the new addition. “Tanguy and I are very excited,” she said. “I’m just very grateful. I know it’s such a privilege and a miracle.”
She also spoke about the difficulties some people experience when trying to conceive, explaining that she wanted to approach the subject respectfully.
“I grew up hearing about how hard it is to get pregnant. I have so many people I love who’ve had such a hard time with it that I want to be respectful around that as well. It’s such a beautiful, joyous thing, and it’s also not an easy thing,” she said.
Portman added that she understood how fortunate she was, expressing deep appreciation and gratitude for the experience.

Natalie Portman reveals pregnancy symptoms and healthcare differences
In a separate interview with Elle, Portman discussed some of the symptoms she experienced during her third pregnancy, including a heightened sense of smell.
“Scent becomes much more present for me when I’m pregnant each time, for better or worse,” she said, recalling an occasion when she told a friend at a restaurant that she could smell gas.
Portman explained that her heightened sense of smell made her particularly sensitive to the smell of gas and smoke, suggesting that it could be the body's way of warning about potential danger.
The actress also compared pregnancy care in France and the United States.
While she praised doctors in both countries, she noted differences in recommended tests and approaches to healthcare.

“The biggest difference for me is a socialized versus not-socialized approach to medicine,” Portman said, explaining that socialized healthcare focuses on providing the best care for the greatest number of people without charging extra for additional services.
In contrast, she said, the American system allows patients to opt for additional services, describing healthcare as a business.
Portman previously shared that she had more energy during this pregnancy and was cherishing every moment because she believed it would probably be her last.
She described the experience as calmer, explaining that she had a better understanding of whom she wanted to spend time with and the kind of energy she wanted around her.
In July, she shared a glimpse of her baby bump on social media, writing, “Counting the days until we meet you.”
