Netanyahu backs Trump for Nobel Peace Prize with AI-generated image: ‘He deserves it’

WASHINGTON, DC: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has joined growing calls for President Donald Trump to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, sharing an AI-generated image celebrating Trump’s win.

Netanyahu promotes Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize bid with AI post
The image, posted on Netanyahu’s official X account, shows the Israeli leader placing an oversized Nobel medal around Trump’s neck amid applause and falling confetti. The caption reads: “Give @realDonaldTrump the Nobel Peace Prize- he deserves it!”
The AI image shows Trump, surrounded by a crowd, standing with his arms raised in celebration, wearing a large, exaggerated gold medal around his neck designed to look like a Nobel Peace Prize.
Beside him is Netanyahu, who appears to be placing the medal on Trump. The image also shows confetti falling from above, and a banner in the background reads, “PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH.” Some in the crowd are holding Israeli flags.
The post comes just days before the prestigious prize is set to be awarded in Norway on October 10, reviving Trump’s own long-standing claim that his diplomatic efforts merit global recognition.
Expert says Trump’s Gaza peace deal ‘unstoppable’
Trump’s determination to push through the Gaza ceasefire deal will make it difficult for either Israel or Hamas to derail the agreement, said Bishara Bahbah, a Palestinian academic and activist close to hostage negotiators.
“With President Trump being as intent as he is to follow through with this agreement and using it as a stepping stone toward resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, nothing is going to stand in Trump’s way. Nothing,” Bahbah told NBC News.
He noted that while Hamas has agreed to a hostage-prisoner exchange, it has not committed to disarming or disbanding, a key element of Trump’s broader peace proposal. “The disarmament issue has been deferred to the next phase,” Bahbah said, suggesting that talks could resume next week.
Analyst says Trump’s leverage vital for next phase of Gaza peace plan
Firas Maksad, Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the Eurasia Group, said Trump’s “willingness to use his leverage” will determine the success of the next stage of the ceasefire plan.
Speaking to CNN, Maksad described Trump’s achievement as a “momentous foreign policy agreement.” “Whatever President Trump lacks in nuanced understanding of regional dynamics, he makes up for with the leverage he holds — not only over Netanyahu and Hamas, but also over regional powers that shape these dynamics,” Maksad said.
However, he warned that Trump’s attention should focus on the next phase. “There’s a scenario where the president celebrates the release of hostages as a major win, then shifts focus elsewhere, and phase two of the ceasefire falls apart,” he said.
According to Maksad, sustained American pressure will be critical. “President Trump can create that momentum, can create that pressure, to force Netanyahu into fully implementing this,” he added.
Trump hails Israel-Hamas accord as major breakthrough
Trump was the first to announce that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the “first phase” of his peace plan to end the Gaza war and release all remaining hostages — exactly two years and a day after Hamas’s deadly October 7, 2023, assault on southern Israel.
Trump posted on Truth Social, “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw [its] troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a strong, durable and everlasting Peace.” A few hours later, he hailed the accord as “a great day for the world.”
He added, “The whole world has come together on this one, Israel, every country has come together. This has been a fantastic day… a wonderful day for everybody.”
In an interview with Fox News, Trump got specific about when the long-awaited reunions might happen. “We think they will all be coming back on Monday… and that will include the bodies of the dead,” he said. “They [the hostages] are in a terrible situation there. They are deep, deep in the earth. As we speak, so much is happening to get the hostages freed.”
