Nick Reiner once ‘wrecked’ parents Rob and Michele’s guest house in violent fit of rage
BRENTWOOD, LOS ANGELES: Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of late Hollywood figures Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner, once violently damaged his parents’ home during a d**g-fueled rage, according to an interview he gave years ago.
The revelation has resurfaced amid the tragic deaths of his parents and his subsequent arrest.
Nick Reiner recounts d*ug-fueled rampage in parents’ guest house
In a 2018 appearance on the 'Dopey' podcast, Nick Reiner described a disturbing episode in which he destroyed parts of his parents’ property while under the influence of d*ugs.
At the time, he said he was “totally spun out on uppers,” believing he was using m*th and c**aine and had been awake for days.
He explained that while he was “sequestered” in his parents’ guest house, his behavior became violent and erratic.
“I went 10 rounds in my guest house,” Nick shared. He recalled the outburst beginning with the television, which he punched, and then moving on to a lamp. In his own words, “everything in the guest house got wrecked.”
He admitted that he could not remember whether he had cut his hand on the glass from the television and conceded that there was “no logic” behind his actions.
When asked why he had acted that way, Nick said he was angry at his parents for telling him he “had to go.”
Nick Reiner arrested after parents found dead in Brentwood home
The earlier podcast comments resurfaced one day after Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home. Their 28-year-old daughter, Romy Reiner, discovered their bodies, which reportedly had their throats slit.
Following the discovery, Nick was arrested and charged in connection with the deaths. He was taken into custody on Monday, December 15, and is being held without bail at Los Angeles’s Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
Nick’s history of substance abuse and violent behavior has long been noted, and the earlier incident involving the destruction of the guest house is part of that pattern.
At the time of the podcast interview, he was identified as someone struggling significantly, and neighbors later acknowledged that his violent outburst was not an isolated incident. One neighbor told the New York Post, “This is not the first time their son has been violent.”
The neighbor added, “I know of another incident a few years back with Nick, but I won’t say more than that. I just never thought it would ever get to this point.”
The neighbor also claimed the family had years of arguments about Nick’s need to enter rehab and described him as having “demons for the longest time.”
Nick also reportedly harbored resentment toward his famous father and grandfather, Carl Reiner, feeling he was not as talented, prolific, or beloved as they were. Rob and Michele also shared another son, Jake Reiner, and Rob Reiner has an adopted daughter, Tracy Reiner, from a previous marriage.
