LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Nicolas Cage has revealed that he is currently “homeless” after his Malibu mansion sustained severe damage when a massive sinkhole emerged near the property in September.

The 62-year-old actor shared details about his living situation during an appearance at LA Comic Con on Saturday, November 1, while discussing his Halloween plans and efforts to maintain some normalcy with his four-year-old daughter.

Cage spoke about his current circumstances after being asked about his Halloween plans during his appearance at LA Comic Con.

The actor explained that the damage to his Malibu property had forced him to stay elsewhere, leaving him unable to celebrate the occasion as he normally would.

“I’m currently a little bit homeless,” Cage said. “Something happened to my house in Malibu so I’m just sort of living in hotels so I don’t have normal trick or treaters I would like to enjoy tonight.”

Despite the disruption, Cage shared that he planned to take his four-year-old daughter, August, trick-or-treating in Santa Monica, California.

He also revealed that he intended to watch director Stanley Kubrick’s horror classic 'The Shining' after putting her to bed.

The actor's $10.5 million beachfront property suffered extensive damage following heavy rainfall and severe coastal erosion, which caused parts of the property to sink.

Photographs taken on September 8 showed a deep hole where the home's driveway had previously been.

The damage extended towards the enclosed garage, with sections of asphalt and concrete appearing to have cracked and collapsed.

Several items were also visible among the debris, including a portable construction-site toilet and what appeared to be fragments of panels from a privacy fence.

The sinkhole also affected neighboring properties, forcing residents to evacuate as the damage threatened access to their homes.

According to the Post, seven homes along the street were marked unsafe for occupancy because of the hazardous conditions.

An additional 24 properties were expected to be red-tagged because residents lacked safe vehicular access.

A statement published on the City of Malibu's website explained that all 31 properties had been designated unsafe because emergency personnel could no longer access them to respond to medical, fire or law enforcement emergencies.

“The collapse of a beachfront driveway extended into the roadway, blocking resident and emergency access,” the city stated.

Meanwhile, Cage has been attempting to prevent further damage to his property. Page Six exclusively reported in October that the actor had moved quickly to secure three permits from city officials within days of the sinkhole forming.

He requested an emergency building permit that allowed him to place sandbags along the beach and the exterior of his home.

The measures were intended to protect the property from waves and prevent further coastal erosion.

Records also showed that two additional permits had been approved for work related to the sinkhole.

These covered the removal of asphalt debris in preparation for shoring installation, as well as excavation work to collect soil samples.
