WASHINGTON, DC: In a surprising move, Nikki Haley's campaign is set to launch a new series titled 'Grumpy Old Men' featuring digital ads, online videos, and voter emails that take direct aim at the perceived similarities between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

The campaign announced on Wednesday, January 31, will include episodes with titles like 'Profligate Pols', 'Basement Buddies', and 'Stumbling Seniors' taking a dig at the two leading presidential front runners.

What is the 'Grumpy Old Men' campaign?

The 'Grumpy Old Men' campaign delves into the criticisms of Trump and Biden's mental acuity, their limited presence on the election campaign trail, and their economic policies, which the campaign suggests led to high inflation.

This strategic shift comes after the Iowa caucuses and reflects Haley's attempt to place herself as a fresh face in the presidential race, contrasting both Trump, 77, and Biden, 81 as representatives of a bygone era.

With South Carolina being Haley's home state, the 52-year-old politician is set to intensify her campaign in the region where she led as former governor, according to The New York Times.

However, the decision to reference the series to the 1993 film 'Grumpy Old Men' could be a risky bet as it might not resonate well with the majority she is looking for.

Recent polls indicate that Haley, who served as a United Nations ambassador under Trump, is trailing him by double digits in South Carolina.

Haley has consistently positioned herself as a "new generational leader" for her party as she advocates for mental competency tests for candidates aged 75 or older.

"We all know 75-year-olds that can run circles around us and then we know Joe Biden," Haley often states on the stump.

Internet slams Nikkey Haley's 'Grumpy Old Men' campaign

Following Haley's unveiling of the 'Grumpy Old Men' campaign against Trump and Biden, netizens slammed her shift in strategy.

"Pathetic. She needs to drop out and stay out of politics. And she along with Biden are of the same bygone era of politician; Trump's populist policies are the future," a user opined.

"At 52, she might want to be careful about getting on the anti-old bandwagon," a user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"Haley is forced to focus on looks/packaging and not policy. Her policies align with Mitch McConnell's and those are a non-starter for most of the GOP primary voters," another user opined.

"You have zero self awareness," a user tweeted and someone wrote, "Nikki Haley working the ageism angle is going to be as effective as Hillary’s “I’m with her” nonsense."

"It’s incredibly insulting to voters to think we’ll vote for a candidate based on their age, sex, race or any other immutable characteristic. Americans want peace — not Haley," the user added.
