'Obvious for years': Internet agrees as Democrat neurologist Dr Tom Pitts says Joe Biden shows sign of Parkinson's

WASHINGTON, DC: On Monday, July 8, a New York-based neurologist specializing in Parkinson’s disease, Dr Tom Pitts, made headlines by suggesting that President Biden is displaying "classic features of neurodegeneration."

This comes amidst growing speculation about Biden's political future and concerns about his health.

Basis for Dr Tom Pitts' assessment of Joe Biden's condition

Dr. Pitts based his assessment on President Biden’s public appearances. His comments were made during an interview on NBC News Now’s 'Top Story with Tom Llamas.'

According to Pitts, "His motor symptoms are degenerating. He has Parkinsonisms. That is a fact. He has degeneration of the brain. Show me the MRI. Show me he doesn't. Put your money where your mouth is. He definitely has it."

Parkinsonism is a broad term that refers to various degenerative brain conditions, including Parkinson's disease. “I could have diagnosed him from across the mall,” Pitts said. “I’m a Democrat, it’s just like — this guy is not a hard case,” he added. “I see [cases like him] 20 times a day in clinic.”

“He has the classic features of neurodegeneration, word-finding difficulties, and that’s not, ‘Oh, I couldn’t find the word,’ that’s from degeneration of the word retrieval area,” Pitts explained, referring to Biden.

He mentioned "word-finding difficulties" and explained that this is due to degeneration of the brain's word retrieval area. He also pointed out Joe Biden’s "shuffling gait," characterized by small steps and loss of arm swing due to rigidity, as well as "end-block turning," where the president pivots around his foot.

“That’s one of the hallmarks of Parkinson’s, is rigidity and bradykinesia, slow movement,” Pitts explained. “Especially with the low voice which they said was a ‘cold.’ Hypophonia, a small monotone voice like this over time is a hallmark of Parkinsonism.”

Medical examination of Joe Biden and official responses

Despite his confident diagnosis, Pitts clarified that he has never been in the "same room" as President Biden and could not assess the president's cognitive abilities directly.

Over the weekend, it was reported that Dr Kevin O’Connor, Biden's physician, had met with Dr Kevin Cannard, a neurology consultant for the White House medical unit, in January. Visitor logs revealed that Cannard had visited the executive mansion eight times between July of last year and March of this year.

Dr O’Connor later acknowledged that Cannard had examined Biden as part of his annual physicals but claimed that these visits were limited to those occasions. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre asserted that the January meeting involving Cannard and O’Connor "was not" about Biden’s health.

The Biden administration has attributed some of the president's recent symptoms to a cold and jet lag from a return trip from Europe.

Despite these explanations, Pitts has called for both President Biden and former President Donald Trump to undergo a four-hour neurological test to assess their cognitive performance. This would include tasks such as block building and memory recall tests.

"The problem is when you look at his situation, you can’t say, oh, I know for a fact that because he didn’t retrieve the word, he didn’t know what he wanted to say and that’s why both him and Trump should take the four-hour neuropsychological testing which is the hallmark test for cognitive performance," Pitts said.

Although Pitts is a Democrat, he expressed frustration with the current situation, comparing the Biden administration’s handling of the president’s health issues to the regimes of North Korea and Russia in terms of denying obvious realities, the New York Post reported.

Social media users react to Dr Tom Pitts' assessment

Social media was abuzz with reactions to Dr Pitts' claims.

"Wow! Here you have a specialist, of Biden‘s party, pointing this out," one posted on X.

"It’s ridiculous they’re only saying this now. It’s been obvious for years," another offered.

"The only people that deny it are those that benefit from Joe remaining in office!" read a comment.

"The Democrats are turning on Biden in an attempt to force him to drop from the race," someone else remarked.

"The sudden flip on Biden has been amazing to watch," another chimed in.
