LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Olivia Wilde has often found herself in the spotlight because of her relationship with Harry Styles. Now, the 'Don't Worry Darling' actress is reflecting on that chapter of her life and says she has no regrets.

In a recent interview, Wilde described her romance with Styles as “loving and wonderful and joyful.” The pair dated for nearly two years, but their relationship frequently faced public scrutiny, particularly over their 10-year age gap. 

Despite the backlash, Wilde now looks back on their time together fondly.

During a recent interview with The Cut, Wilde opened up about her relationship with the 'All It Was' singer, her personal growth, and the lessons she has learned from past experiences. 

The actress and director admitted that one thing she does regret is staying silent amid the intense scrutiny surrounding her dating life with Styles. “I was told, ‘Don't say a word. Just go out there and smile,’” Wilde recalled.

“I resent that, but it taught me it's not the way I want to handle things,” she added, explaining that she now wishes she had approached the situation differently.

Wilde also acknowledged how difficult it was to remain quiet while facing public criticism. "I deeply hate the feeling of being misunderstood, too," Wilde said, noting that staying silent is not always the best response.

Wilde and Styles' romance had the internet talking from the very beginning. The two first crossed paths on the set of 'Don't Worry Darling' and went on to date for nearly two years before calling it quits in November 2022. 

While the relationship appeared strong, it was under the microscope, with their 10-year age gap becoming a frequent talking point online.

Years later, Wilde has reflected on how overwhelming that level of attention felt. During an appearance on the 'Call Her Daddy podcast' while promoting 'The Invite', she revealed that she often felt disconnected from the version of herself being portrayed in the media.

“I never felt more disconnected from the person that people were talking about. It was also very strange to see complete fiction traded as fact,” Wilde said.

"I felt frustrated that I couldn’t defend myself, but it was not about (me)... I think that my own attempt to be strong and to kind of like rise above it in a way came off as inauthentic," she added.
