NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: A wildfire of unfounded conspiracy theories ignited online after News Nation reporter Dray Clark claimed that a former "president" will be named in the list of 170 Jeffrey Epstein associates that is set to be released in 2024.

On Monday, December 18, US Federal Judge Loretta Preska ordered the public disclosure of the identities of over 150 individuals referenced in an abundance of court records on the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The judge added that most of the names — including sex abuse victims, litigation witnesses, his employees, and some with a passing connection to his crimes — are already public and many did not object to the release.

She gave the people listed more than a week to file an appeal after ordering the documents to be released on January 1, according to the Associated Press.

The ruling is the most recent filing in a settled case brought by American Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who alleged that Epstein sexually abused her while she was a minor and that Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend and longtime accomplice, aided in the abuse.

What did Dray Clark say about Jeffrey Epstein's associates list release?

Following Preska’s order, Clark reported that “at least 11 names will not be released, including 8 people who have been identified as minor victims of sexual abuse.”

He then continued by noting that a former "president" will be named in the list of 170 Epstein associates that is set to be released in the new year.

“Many of those names that will come out certainly are known and notable, including a former president, but they are all part of a now-settled civil lawsuit against Ghislaine Maxwell brought by Virginia Duffrey,” he said.

Loretta Preska’s order sparks flurry of conspiracy theories

Preska’s order sparks a flurry of conspiracy theories, with many claiming that the Epstein list is an attempt to distract angered Donald Trump supporters.

"BREAKING NEWS this is why they are going after Trump because they are going to be releasing Epstein's list," one user tweeted.

"The publishing timing of these stories about Epstein then Trump and the election ballot situation in Colorado seems awful convenient[...]distracting or nah?" a second user agreed.

"Yes, I fully support the release of the #EpsteinClientList," the third user stated, adding "But NO I have no faith that it will be used for ANYTHING except to try to associate #Trump with #Epstein. That's it."

However, some users claimed that Epstein’s associates list might include more than one president. “Only 1? I would have guessed 2 or 3,” one user said on Twitter.

“I wonder who the 3 redacted adult names are. That must be someone in the current admin,” another user suggested.

Furthermore, a few users asserted that Bill Clinton's name could appear on the list. “Shocking 😳 a former, just say it Bill Clinton. Just stop playing games already,” one stated.

“My money is on Bill Clinton. Is this really a secret?” another user wrote while one more said, “Bill Clinton who has Epstein and Maxwell as close acquaintances during his daughter's wedding *might* be on the list.”
