NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Megyn Kelly's bold prediction that former President Donald Trump will be convicted in the high-profile "hush money" case involving adult film star Stormy Daniels has ignited intense backlash online.

During a recent appearance on NewsNation, the outspoken media personality confidently stated that Trump's conviction was nearly certain, citing the heavily Democratic leanings of the Manhattan jury pool.

Megyn Kelly believes Trump's conviction in 'hush money' trial is nearly certain

"He's getting convicted. I don't really think there's a lot of mystery about that," Kelly declared during the interview with host Dan Abrams. "The jury's going to hate him. Manhattan went 92%, between 87 and 92% for Joe Biden. That's where this is going to be tried. These are not Trump lovers."

Kelly's comments have reignited the long-standing tensions between her and Trump, despite their apparent patch-up in 2023 when the ex-president consented to a one-on-one interview with her.

"Look, I think the jury's going to believe that he paid off a porn star before the election to make her go away and that he didn't write down in his books, 'Hush money to Stormy Daniels,' because no one in the history of hush money payments has ever written that in any book anywhere," Kelly continued.

Hush money case against Trump stems from accusation he hid payments made to Stormy Daniels

Kelly's prediction that Trump will be convicted aligns with the former president's own concerns about his ability to receive a fair trial in Democrat-leaning Manhattan.

The issue of jury impartiality has been a focal point of debate in the case, with Trump and his legal team arguing that the predominantly Democratic composition of the Manhattan jury pool might bias the proceedings against him.

The "hush money" case against Trump stems from accusations that he illegally manipulated business records to hide payments made to Daniels, with whom he allegedly had an affair in 2006. Trump has denied the affair and accused the Manhattan District Attorney's office of pursuing the case for political reasons, as per Newsweek.

Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election.
