Orlando Bloom says filming his skydiving was like 'a pressure cooker'

The three-part adventure series streaming on Peacock featured Bloom engaging in daring activities like skydiving and climbing.

However, he found himself facing a life-threatening situation during one skydiving stunt in California.

"The whole thing was like a pressure cooker. I'm amazed I'm still alive," said Bloom.

The skydiving video showed the 47-year-old actor wingsuiting about five miles over the ocean before he landed on Pismo Beach.

After watching the video, Bloom said, "It gets my heart racing every time. I have to say, I'm like, 'I can't believe I did that.'"

"There's another clip where I just, like, eat it. And then I get up and I go, 'Did I have you worried then?'" he laughed.

Orlando Bloom recalls the moment his parachute failed to open

On his seventh jump during skydiving, Bloom's right toggle failed to function.

"I jump out, I'm coming down and I pull on the shoot… And it wasn't working," said the 'Pirates of the Carribean' star.

"So I look up and there’s like, it’s been caught in a line, right? And I'm going, 'I'm not going to be able to land this,'" he added.

Quick to act, Bloom followed the protocol and cut one of his parachutes free, letting his second parachute open. The actor ultimately landed safely.

"There's a guy in the middle of the field, and he thought there was going to be a body out there," Bloom said of the near-death experience, according to Entertainment Tonight.
