TEMPE, ARIZONA: Former president Donald Trump compared the United States to “a garbage can” during a rally in Arizona on Thursday.

In Tempe, he criticized Vice President Kamala Harris and the Biden-Harris administration’s approach to immigration and border security.

“When Kamala came in, she deliberately dismantled our border and threw open the gates,” Trump stated. He accused Harris of allowing an influx of “criminal migrants from prisons and jails, from insane asylums and mental institutions from all over the world, from Venezuela to the Congo in Africa.”

While Trump has repeatedly claimed that other countries are releasing prisoners to send to the US, these assertions lack evidence.

“We’re a dumping ground,” Trump continued. “We’re like a garbage can for the world. That’s what’s happened. That’s what’s happened to our– we’re like a garbage can. You know, it’s the first time I ever said that."

He added, "And every time I come up and talk about what they’ve done to our country, I get angrier and angrier. First time I’ve ever said ‘garbage can.’ But you know what? It’s a very accurate description.”

Trump has pledged to deport all immigrants who are in the country illegally, including those with Temporary Protected Status.

He specifically mentioned Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, claiming it was “terrible to say and it’s a tough thing to do.”

During a previous debate, Trump made a false claim regarding Haitians allegedly eating people’s pets, further intensifying his controversial rhetoric on immigration.
