The 49-year-old comedian was baptized in the Thames in April 2023 and has been open about his growing relationship with Christianity since then.

Russell Brand now appears eager to invite others to share in his spiritual journey by performing baptisms himself.
On Friday, September 27, he shared images of himself alongside a companion conducting a baptism.
The caption read, "It might seem a bit soon to be baptizing people, but the Apostles did it on day one, so here we are."

While Brand and the other person were only wearing underwear during the ceremony, the person being baptized was dressed in surf gear.
Internet outraged over Russell Brand performing baptism in his underwear
Netizens, especially fellow Christians, were quick to point out that performing baptism while wearing only underwear was "inappropriate."
One wrote, "This is not normal," and another said, "Now you are just embarrassing yourself."
A person stated, "You are embarrassing yourself as a Christian. In no way are you qualified to do this with your experience."
"Doing this in your underwear is utterly inappropriate. This is a 'tell', a sign of irreverence of the holiness of Abba Pater. Big TELL moment here making yourself the center of attention," remarked an individual.
Someone else expressed, "Perhaps a little more modesty might be in order." Another person said, "If this isn't a troll, then what are you doing posting pictures of yourself in your underwear while claiming to baptize someone? Seriously, where's your common sense, Mr. Russel? This is beyond ridiculous!"

Russell Brand's journey of transformation
Russell Brand embarked on his journey of finding faith after he was accused of rape, assault, and emotional abuse in September 2023 following a joint investigation by Channel 4 Dispatches, The Times and The Sunday Times.
At the time, he denied the "serious criminal allegations" and said his relationships "were absolutely, always consensual."
In April, Brand shared his "incredible, profound experience" of getting baptized in the River Thames with his followers through an Instagram video. The comedian said he felt "changed, transitioned."
He added, "Now of course even though it has been less than 24 hours in the interim period I've already felt irritation: I've got three children, I've got a job, I've got challenges, I still live in the world. But I feel as though some new resource within me has switched on."
"Iβm learning and I will make mistakes, but this is my path now. I already feel incredibly blessed, relieved, nourished, held," noted Brand, who has rebranded himself as an anti-establishment commentator.

Earlier this month, Brand helped Tucker Carlson kick off his live tour and asked God to bring "unity" to the nation through the presidential election.
He said, "I pray in your name that the forthcoming election be an opportunity for unity for America and Americans," going on to ask God to guide and forgive the "dark and demonic forces that appear to operate at the level of the state, the deep state and the corporate and global world."
