PHOENIX, ARIZONA: Newly baptized Russell Brand joined conservative commentator Tucker Carlson on stage, praying to make the presidential election an opportunity for "unity." However, what caught the internet's attention was the comedian kneeling on stage while leading the prayer.

Brand, who once backed British hard-left socialist Jeremy Corbyn, shifted into a staunch supporter of former president Donald Trump.

While closing the recent packed show in Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday, September 4, the actor knelt on stage as Carlson sat on the chair and prayed to God to expose the "dark forces" controlling the "deep state," as per Daily Mail.

Brand shared a picture from the moment on his X account, writing, "My life has changed. Praise Jesus."

Russell Brand's communal prayer for America

Tucker Carlon requested the British comedian, who was baptized in April, to help start his live tour in Arizona.

Towards the end of the show, Brand knelt and bowed his head to pray.

"I pray in your name that the forthcoming election be an opportunity for unity for America and Americans," he said. He then asked God to shed light on the "dark and demonic forces that appear to operate at the level of the state, the deep state and the corporate and global world" and forgive and guide them.

"Thank you for the glory of consciousness itself.. thank you for the many leaders.. and that we may have eternal life. Not through merit or anything we have individually achieved because surely we are all fallen," the actor continued.

Brand and Carlson ended the prayer together by saying "amen," recovering applause from the crowd.

During the show, Brand remarked about his faith and the condition of the world, claiming it was in a "weird" situation.

He also sparked laughter from the crowd, joking it was easy for him to get into the US without a passport by crossing the border.

Brand, who was accused of sexual abuse, turned to God by getting baptized in the Thames. He announced his shift to Christianity in May.

Internet trolls Russell Brand as he kneels and prays

Netizens brutally trolled Russell Brand's stunt as he kneeled and prayed with Tucker Carlson on stage.

"This is so fake and cringy," a user said.

"This arc is the only funny thing in his entire career," another remarked.

"Let us all take a moment to welcome failing, disgraced, comedian Russell Brand to the Religion racket, soon to have his own Evangelical TV show with a telephone number next to a Mastercard icon permanently on the bottom of the screen," added a user.

"Seems like the conservative Christian community is the last hope for these grifters," read one response.

"Orthodox in 5 years time, then jewish? It is impressive watching Russell march through every religion that ever existed over the last 15 years in an attempt to escape himself," another said.

"You are a charlatan, parading your "faith" is the least Christian thing you could do," someone else added.

"The cringe factor is off the charts," another added.

"You found a grift as old as time," read one remark.
